You are missing my point, I already said they handled it badly and judging from the reviews posted above - you were unlikely to ever get any help.

You comparison about stores would be more valid if you said something like:

"Imagine you went into a store to get a replacement on a product that is already out of warranty and instead of discussing the matter with the rep, you stood in the middle of the store screaming "IF YOU DONT ACCEPT THIS PRODUCT BACK, IM GOING TO POST NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON YELP AND STAND OUTSIDE YOUR STORE WITH A SIGN SAYING HOW POOR YOU ARE""

and then expect someone to help you in a courteous manner.

I am not saying they are right (far from it). However, the way you lead your messages to them was out of order IMO and just the same if you do it like that on ebay.

As someone who sells here and used to sell on ebay, I can tell you that leading how you seem to suggest you do in all your communications isnt the best way to get what you want. If you came to me with the original story "I bought this some time ago and not used all the pieces as there are 100+ of them and only came across the issue now, can you help" would get you more help than the "even though its out of warranty, if you dont help me I am going to post loads of negative reviews". Thats pretty much all my point is and it should help you in future if you take it on board.

Bad_Ad is right about trying not to sound aggressive in such situations. Always remain polite and calm, only talk about reviews/feedback once the issue is resolved if you though the process was smooth and the seller deserves a positive feedback. You can of course say things like "I will take any required action with eBay so my rights are respected in this transaction." if the seller is blatantly trying to rip you off, but saying "I'll give you negative feedbacks" is not helping you too much.

I thought I was very polite to that spammer, scammer. lol. I know what your saying bad Ad, but I didn't yell at him. I'm sorry if I offended you. To each his own. I've gotten over 200 emails from spam in the last hours. I will honestly take your advice, thank you. Like I said I try to be polite and respectful to everyone, Thank you for the advice. I try to remain objective, but I guess my temper can get in the way sometimes. I was out of line.

You were clearly polite but it can sound arrogant or self-righteous when you say "I'd like to recommend your product but xyz...". You could say "I really like your offers but I believe the product I received is not as advertised" or something along those line to say that you're deceived, but would normally like the product if not for the current issue.

That said you were nowhere close to being as disrespectful as (one of?) the employee(s?), especially as his job is to speak with customers this is inadmissible in any circumstances. At worst you simply say to a customer that you can't do anything to help him; you never insult or diminish him.

Very true - avoid using the threats of negative reviews until after they've replied and not helped ;-) By the way, you are a member of a web community with over 20,000 members (many of whom like to fix their own products) and thousands of hits per day, not a video game site.

Unfortunately, you really should have checked them when you got them. Here in the UK, you get a 14 day money back guarantee and then whatever warranty may be on the product.

Question - does the kit contain the special tools required to open Nintendo (SNES, N64) consoles and games?

You might want to edit the link out of the quoted text too, as its intended to use this site to game the search engines.

Done. Also removed his IP address from the spoiler.

noahstauff, please use the edit and multi-quote buttons instead of double/triple posting. You can quote several posts at once. If nobody has replied to your thread for, say, at least a week - then fine, post again. If it's not been that long and yours was the last post, just edit.

Why do people think that nothing will get done unless they start making threats/veiled threats? Do some people have trust issues and believe that when something goes wrong, it's a calculated move on the behalf of the company/customer service rep who hates you and wants to rip you off? I saw this a lot when I worked in customer service. Any halfway decent customer service rep wants to help you to the best of their ability, but when you start being difficult they just want you to get lost. And they've probably already heard the same threats a million times, so it's not like you'll get special treatment.

Oh, sorry guys. I'll fix those immediately. I've gotten over 1000 spam emails today too :/ (and counting) I wish I knew some other way to cope with that, I've just been flagging them all. Yes, The kit contained both the NES and the larger N64 and SNES security bits, which luckily work. Can't say the same of any of the bits. The NES and N64 bits are both the stand alone wrench type. Those are the real reason I chose that kit, The other bits were just kind of a bonus. lwizardl posted a link to a kit that is almost identical to what I ordered, without the Nintendo wrenches or the shoddy screw driver handle:

Better price too, Only $8.99. Comes with a guarantee of no verbal abuse, or selling of your personal info to phishing sites. (Sorry dull humor)

*Edit* Thanks for editing those for me Retro, I should have thought about that. Sorry about the double posting, I'll keep on top of that from here on out *End Edit*

Christ almighty, why would you cheap out on tools of all things?!?

Buy branded, and only from known good retailers! Black and decker, Makita, DeWalt, Bosch. Tools and there related gubbins are 100% an item you get what you pay for! If you buy a bit set, make sure it's cryo hardened otherwise it grinds out.

You can pay £20 for a challenge drill, yeah you're only putting up that one shelf now, but when you come to use it again the battery could be completely dead and won't recharge, the plug for charging is shit quality and ends up going pop. Or you can spend £55, snag a black and decker and it'll be the kind of thing you pass onto your kids when DIY gets beyond your abilities.

While I completely agree with your sentiment, please find me some security bits for nintendo stuff (gamebit, triwing etc) made by any of those brands and i shall buy them immediately.

I'm sure they do. Unfortunately that doesn't help anyone in this case. In addition to not having the needed bits the ones that might be useful aren't long enough to reach many screws. Like others I'd love to get a high quality gamebit screwdriver that's thin and long enough to get in to those hard to reach places. Show me that and I'll also buy immediately.
