Thanks for another fantastic episode! I'm very quickly running out of suggestions, as you've long since covered all of the really key games I'd wanted to see compared in this format.
Can you believe that Victor Japan (JVC) have put a claim on this video for the Famicom Classic's version of the Mappy music? Seems Victor Japan is Namco's money grabber since they've also claimed various other Namco game videos I've put up. So sad (-_-)
Here's a new BOTP for this week that many people requested over the years - WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game.
You clearly were not playing this on On a real PC because I had bought the game back in the day and it was almost a one to one perfect copy aside from the lower resolution. There is no slowdown even with four opponents on the screen.
I was not playing on a real PC? What was I playing it one then? Of course I was using a real PC. The problem is Dos box. It comes with a pre-configured setting for this game so obviously I expected it to be set up right. Turns out it wasn't. The base Cpu cycles were set too low. At the time of recording I didn't know this.
So, there aren't many boxing games in the arcade and what ones there are are not that great. But just how bad is Taito's Final Blow?
Never heard of this boxing game, but the ports are really good for the time. Have to respect a developer that knows how to port a game to a less capable system, sometimes even making improvements!
Im glag storm / Sales Curve did the computer port because anyonther joker company such as US Gold or Ocean would have ruined them.
Last week during the first weekend of March 2019, the wife, son and I visited Osaka for the weekend. It's actually quite far from where I live but it was a great trip. It's an oldie today as we take a look at Venture. This video does not contain any home-brew remake such as those found on the Atari 8bit home computers, Atrai 5200 or Windows.
I loved this game on the Atari ST, and was let down when I finally played the arcade in MAME some years later. Just out of interest, what versions were you trying on the ST version, because mine runs flawlessly on Hatari and Steem?
Here we go for the first time ever on Battle of the Ports, a game that does not have an arcade version. Yes, after 265 shows we are now starting to look at ports not from the arcades. This does not mean the arcade ports are done with, oh no! I have so many more arcade game to home ports to cover but every now and then none arcade based shows will appear
Before the Neo Geo SNK were still making many great arcade games. Beast Busters is one of them. Released just 1 year the Neo Geo was released, this game features the SNK scaling sprites trademark. Sadly this was only ever ported top two systems. Let's check them out.
