i'll admit i never played bayonetta 1st time around, although im planning on getting it for the xbox360 soon. hopefully this signifies that nintendo are willing to broaden their target audience. time will tell
I bet what happened was bayonetta 2 was in devolpment for ps3 and 360 and since the wii u has basically the same specs it was a very easy port for Sega. Plus nintendo came in with a ton of money and offered to publicize the sequel heavily which otherwise would not have happened as a standard release for 360 and ps3.
I feel pretty bad for everyone who just had a Wii this generation. Then again, you have to be a pretty dangerous stupid to not buy a 360 or PS3 at any point after seeing all the great games that aren't ever coming out on Wii.
I love the number of people who've mistakenly thought that just because it's a WiiU-exclusive means that SEGA has nothing to do with it. Sega have confirmed they are advising on the project, so I doubt that Nintendo would maliciously remove anything Sega and Platinum contributed. It's not like they are arch-rivals any more. EDIT: I originally stated that Sega was confirmed as publisher. Since I originally posted this, Sega have announced that they are not publishing but advising on development, and early reports to the contrary are false.
True, but I bought the Wii first and then moved to 360 then to PS3. By then some Baynoetta would at least have a Wii some where...
This is Platinum Games we're talking about here, so the chances are extremely low. And they have another WiiU exclusive in the works as well. Though all I want is Infinite Space 2. That game had the best story of any video game I have ever seen.
If this game succeeds maybe Hideki Kamiya can make that Star Fox game he always wanted with Nintendo's blessing.
Sorry, my mistake. I was basing it on this one: http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/articles/games/sega-announce-bayonetta-2-for-wii-u/ and this one: http://www.themogblog.com/2012/09/13/platinum-games-and-sega-announces-bayonetta-2-wii-u-exclusive/ and this one: http://spong.com/article/28054/Bayonetta-2-Confirmed-Wii-U-Exclusive and this one. Admittedly, Sega only came out and confirmed they weren't co-publishing it after I posted my original comment. I have corrected my original post. In any case, as they own the IP and co-advising, I would expect they won't intentionally strip out Sega references - especially as Sega is not a competitor.
Bayonetta is one of my favorite games of all time. And this sealed the deal for me. I am buying a Wii U just for this game. If you want to BLAME anyone for it not being on the PS3/360. Blame the idiots at Sega for cancelling it.
That's what Nintendo was going for. Again, I can't fault them for wanting to establish exclusives that aren't casual crap. They're trying harder than Microsoft, I know that much. I just found an amusing article on Kotaku (I know, I know) about the fanboyish tweets sent to Platinum games twitter. Tweeting such gems as: "Nintendo fucking sucks, I better see a Xbox release in the future or I'll kill you" "Bayoneta 2 only for Wii U?. FU*K you and fu*k YOU Platinum Games. Not buying games from you again. No respect for loyal gamers." "Bayonetta 2 on a toddlers console, what a great decision." "Platinum studio is dead for me. Considering to cancel my MGRising pre-order too." "you can't leave fans that were the key of the success of the first one out or ask them to buy a new console. you suck dicks" Source: http://kotaku.com/5943207/these-fans-arent-happy-about-bayonetta-2
Fanboys are always sad/amusing. Still, gotta wonder whether Bayonetta 2 will flop as hard as MadWorld. I think it has a better chance since it's a sequel, assuming Nintendo can get the Wii U a wider audience than just people who play and buy crap like Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii.
Immaturity aside, I do see the game selling very very poorly. Nintendo will never shake the image they're a kiddie company no matter how many mature games shows up on their consoles.
The reason Sega went with wii u as exclusive is because they knew the game would sell well as a launch title. If the pre orders are any indication we're going to see another shortage of systems as with the Wii launch. Sega had to predict and get in on that.
I played the first one , it was ok won't be buying the Wii U for this game but will be buying it for Nintendo games in 1080p don't hate.
