Bernie Stolar's Zoom Project are releasing a MEGARACE reboot.

ZOOM Project are releasing a reboot of that classic PC hit and later 3DO and Mega CD racer, MEGARACE. Back in the day MEGARACE was quite the head turner when it came to flashy graphics so it will be interesting to see how well this reboot will shape up on modern gaming devices. Also in the works is an interesting PC point and click adventure going under the name of Mr. Travel that originated from French education software.

MegaRace is looking good from this screen shot. Much nicer than the original.

 

I recall the worst part of Megarace was that they had more tracks than cut scenes. And it played cut scenes between races so it got repetitive.

 

This is pretty exciting news, hopefully they will make something good out of it. Really enjoyed MegaRace 1 and 2.

btw Yakumo, the screenshot you posted is from MegaRace3 so you can't really compare that one to the original

 

Was just googling this very thing! I have a friend here anyway so I just joined! A new MegaRace sounds pretty sweet! Especially since they have the original Lance Boyle! That guy, Christian Erickson, really did a great job!

Is there any current popular racing series which comes close to the mature combat racing series of MegaRace or Carmaggedon?

 

Sadly, it looks like all the great arcade racers are currently gone....I miss the San Francisco Rush Series, especially San Francisco Rush 2049. I miss the Burnout series, especially Takedown and Revenge. I miss Sega's Full Auto and Full Auto 2: Battlelines, I miss the Spy Hunter reboots on Xbox, PS2, and GC as well as 187: Ride or Die, the Cruisin' series, and Carmageddon!!! I love MegaRace too and can't wait for its triumphant return with the original Lance Boyle!!!!!

*GOG sells MegaRace 1/2 for $5.99 and MegaRace 3 SEPERATELY for $5.99! So, ZOOM can get you the whole Trilogy for less than just one of the games on GOG! How can they do that?!?!?!?

Ah, I was going to post about this Looks like I was too slow.

 

I bought the MegaRace Trilogy discounted bundle. At first I was pretty pissed off, as they provided a 24-hours-expiring download link.
My internet connection has lately been failing me at downloading big files. So I go ahead and start the download, realize it's 1.8GB and started praying it completes ok.
Of course it didn't. So, I want to try the link again (within the 24 hours), only to find out it was a one-time-use link.

So I get really pissed off and contact them via their website.
In less than 30 minutes I got an answer from a human being, providing a quick solution to my issue, explaining they're still going through different download options to see what best fits their users needs.
I was able to get the download working after a couple more tries.

But it doesn't end there: 2 days later I get a follow-up email from them asking if I was able to complete the download successfully.

I have to say: you don't find that kind of support easily nowadays. I can only assume they're a small company, and really care about their customers.
That alone is a reason for me to buy from them.

TL;DR: Great customer service and support!!!

PS: Now I have to find some time to start playing

 

I had a great experience with them too!!!! Their customer service was above and beyond...I was trying to get MegaRace 3 to show up on my TV if I connected my laptop to it and it wouldn't. They helped me modify my video drivers/settings for my card and poof...MR3 on my TV!!!!!!!

Did you get the store update email?!?!? They are upgrading to a whole new system where you can re-download and have a library with all your purchased games you can re-download anytime with soundtracks, manuals, map packs, wallpapers, etc.
