What is your favorite controller of all time? Mine is the Sega Saturn Analog Controller that is bundled with NiGHTS Into Dreams...

SNES official joypad. Very comfortable. Plenty of buttons. The Sega Saturn joypad is also great. I'm not sure what the name of the version I like better is called, but it's pretty obvious its the better version of the standard Sega Saturn joypad.

I have one, but the D-Pad rubber button things on the inside broke. No idea if you can get replacements.

Two player PSX Blaze Twin Shock. I modded mine to work as an optional Twin Stick. Toggle switches from two player to Twinstick.

The second one is it, but there is another 6 button pad that is somewhat different. Not as rounded looking I think.

Yeah, there was the American version that was supposed to look really futuristic or something. It was a piece of crap. I think the other Saturn controller (the second one pictured above) is probably the best digital controller. I'm not sure which is the best analog controller.

Period. Second place goes to the 360 controller.

Agreed again. No point in this thread. Even if you don't like the Saturn pad you can't disagree with it's design. It has been the most versatile and comfortable pad since 1995 and still is.

Oh, and PLEASE don't anyone say the PlayStation pad or Dual Shock. They're all the same when it comes to the actual D-Pad. All are awful compared to the Saturn controller

On a side not, I do like the feel and quality of the 360 controller. People say it's D-Pad is nasty but I find it perfectly fine for 2D games such as shooters.

The Logitech Cordless Action controller is excellent.

I agree that the d-pad on the original PS1 controller and all subsequent DualShock controllers is pretty crappy, but the Logitech Cordless Action has a decent one.

I can't believe someone as experienced as you would put up with the 360's d-pad. Of the major consoles, only the N64's was worse. Everyone I know who plays games that need a d-pad on their 360 has had to buy a third-party pad to address the issue, myself included. I did try the d-pad modification, which helped, but even after that it still wasn't right.

I do like everything else about the 360's pad, it's a shame really.

Sorry but I have to disagree. The button layout is perfect, but confort is not a characteristic of this controller.
I've found myself with numb fingers some times when playing racing games for a long time.

If you're looking for confort you should try the N64 or Gamecube controllers, that's confortable. You can guess how many effort Nintendo put on anatomic design developing the N64 and the Gamecube controllers. Those two was the only ones with huge anatomic development really applied. Looks like they was almost developed from scratch.

The Saturn, Dreamcast and Playstation(s) controllers were just some kind of upgrade from the previous ones.

So my vote goes to the N64 controller as the best. <3

with the N64 controller, I hate to use it when playing games that require the L button and Z button. I usually play with my left hand on the middle grip, right on the right. also, the buttons on that thing are pieces of crap, the only downside of an n64 being the controller IMO.

oh that one. I have found that one to break to easily (not nearly as bad as the Atari 5200 though)
