Best foods from Asia?

    There's an asian supermarket around here now and I'm looking to be more prepared next time I go.

    Today we got a rice cooker, bento boxes, energy drinks (Bullwild and one with a dragon, in small brown tinted glass bottles), Mochi ice cream, those popular gummy candies (grape), Hello Panda vanilla filled candy, Yan Yan, chocolate tree stump candy, ice cream cone candy, white rabbit candy, Apollo chocolates, Meiji fruit drops (in the tin), some yogurt-ish drink (they don't have Yakult brand -- or I couldn't find it) and wonton wrappers. I'm not really interested in noodles, as I've already gotten a handful of different varities from there last time.

    I keep going in there blindly! They have a variety of different asian foods, but I can't read any of it, so it's kind of hard.

    I'm interested in something they'll have like cereals, tasty meals I can make, etc. I'm moreso interested in real food than just something to snack on, but feel free to list any snacks I might have missed.

    As many suggestions as possible are openly welcome and appreciated, as they might not have some of the stuff.

    Finally, some suggestions on what to do with these wonton wrappers would be nice. :icon_bigg

    Buy kohkae penuts (from tailand). Mmm very tasty to snack on (I prefer coconut flavor).

    You can always get some clasic japanese pookey.

    Hmm, best foods..

    Japan = Everything udon
    Japan/california = California roll + unagi
    China/cantonese = Char siu baau
    Thailand = Red/green/masaman curry
    Philippines = Bibingka

    The only thing to do with wonton wrappers: make wonton soup! (shrimp & pork filling, no exceptions!) People who make pot stickers/gyoza out of wonton wrappers should be themselves fried.

    Cook the rice with some lemon grass! and make some chicken with cashewnuts (thailand style) add some peppers and vegtables (unions/mushrooms/ and whatever else you can find)

    What I usually like to buy at those orientals is dried tropical fruits and dried pork :)

    I think few people here, or outside of Japan for that matter, concur on this one :lol:

    Okonomiyaki is nice, by the way, if you're in for a bit of DIY. I forgot the name of the green herbs you're supposed to put on them, though.

    No expense spared at the local supermarket then, or do you wait until later in the night when they start putting the red/yellow labels on them? :lol:

    My sunday dinner was a trip to a decent sushi place that did some nice tempura too...
