Didn't Raiden DX come out here as The Raiden Project? I was pretty sure we did get that Raiden 1&2 collection.

Raiden Project only contained Raiden 1 and Raiden 2

Raiden DX is a different game, released after raiden 2

Guess I'd better try and find that sometime then. I loved the original Raiden when I played it on PC-Engine. Super Raiden on the CD was even better.

Having previously worked in a book store I actually think that is a great question to ask any bookseller as they'd relish the opportunity to offer books that most customers neglect or never appear to discover for themselves, which is precisely why I asked. ;-)

The worst question is '...you know the book I want, by thingy with the whatsit in the title...oh you know doodah-thingy-me-bob!' (Blank stare: I have NO idea what you are talking about)

This way you get to show us non-initiated into the world of your personal preference. Thus far it's looking great. Lots to hunt down!

Well, strictly speaking there's at least three games in that list that received a PAL release; heck, X2 was made by a British company I'm pretty sure.
Not slagging you off though, those are some great suggestions :)

I think ESPgaluda is probably the best japanese game for the PS2. But then, I haven't played many others.

For my money, the JPN-only Wizardry releases are very worthwhile PSX and PS2 titles if you can read the language. We're talking old school, party-based, turn-based, random encounter RPG action like you haven't seen away from the tabletop. Wizardry's game mechanics have changed very little, and yet it arguably has some of the most original RPG content by way of plot and puzzles. Like haiku, the strict adherence to formula produces some excellent art as each Wizardry title strives to be more and more like its predecessor on the PC.

One Wizardry title did get released in the west, the Tales of the Forsaken Land game. A worthy representative, although hardcore fans will tell you its one of the weaker episodes.

I'm curious to know if Parris picked up any of these recommendations.

Man raiden DX is the most under rated game!

    1. Faster than raiden project. Superb programming!
    2. MASTER MODE - Try and beat all bosses in a row.
    3. Master video - Game beaten with no deaths.
    4. Stepped difficulty. The bossses get harder depending on what you do.
Red? whatch out. Purple? Oh shit.
    5. VIPER PHASE ONE SOUNDTRACK OPTION! Need I say more? (explodes).
    6. Unreleased game demo - Battle balls - Senkyu

Seriously, I would buy that game and a psone and glue it in the damn machine, it's that good.

So if you're reading this, BUY IT NOW.
