Back in the SNES / Genesis days there was a video game modem called XBAND. While only a select amount of titles were actually enabled for multiplayer it was definitely some great times for me, I want to say I was around 13-14 but was placed #1st in Mortal Kombat in the country for the Sega Genesis. Trying to etch my moment in history a few years ago I managed to backorder the issue and upload the page to wikipedia here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Xbandscore.jpg I thought since the majority of us here have a passion / grew up on older games and gaming what were some of the better moments in earlier generations ? Doesn't have to be related to competition either, just memories that really stuck out.
My best gaming moment was with my 3do believe it or not back in the days I got my hand on the extremely expensive 3do for a nice price somehow and had the greatest time being amazed at the graphics and playing my all time most played/favourite games need for speed and road rash! not to forget the arcade perfect SSFIITurbo.. other memorable moments were mortal monday (release of mortal combat for the snes) and getting my first PSX with ridge racer and toshinden!
airplane flow over your head in contra spirits. first encounter with r-type level 1 boss. first encounter with axelay level 2 boss. almost every moment in akumajou dracula x chi no rondo. stage clear in gate of thunder. and many hundreds more.
Man I cant decide:lol:, from looking at the MKI SCD when I was like 6 to the first time I saw Mario64 running, theres a lot of stuff worth remembering:nod: I'll say the most recent one was playing Sonic Adventure in january 1999. It was awesome:thumbsup: After that there were some good moments, but nothing too amazing...
Those are some good ones, Shadowlayer. I'd also say playing through the opening stages of Half Life for the first time. Everything about that game - the graphics, the gameplay, the story - was revolutionary at the time. Another good one: playing Vectorman on my Nomad on Christmas day.
buying a ps3 for its linux capabilities only!......that,...and first next gen game oblivion and first time ever playing ms. pac man on the 2600
Getting an N64 and Shadows of the Empire for my birthday and playing it all night long with my brother and cousin. Zelda: LTTP Buying a Gamecube randomly one afternoon in college and playing Mario Party all night.
The first time I played Mario Bros. for the NES, the first time I saw Mario 64 in motion, and when I first booted up Soul Calibur for the DC.
Hmm.... hard one -My first 1CC -First starting PSO -Finally putting PSO away -Sitting around my apartment on a rainy day smoking a pack of cigarettes playing Descent 3 online. I don't smoke anymore, but have fond memories of it.
Too many to list. All i know is that when I got an n64, my first devkits, my 64DDs etc, I was pissing my pants from happyness. Same goes for the GBpocket, NES and of course many of their games.
A couple recent ones... Killamanjaro on 3 people in Halo 2 and The first Big Daddy I faced in Bioshock.
My number one gaming moment would be when the identity of the Divine Visitor was revealed in Panzer Dragoon Saga. Running a close second would be seeing the real ending of Lunar: Eternal Blue. I don't think there's been an RPG that hits quite the same note of sadness as in the first game, or the same height of joy as in the second one.
Playing Half-life for the first time... Then going out and buying every Expansion pack and playing each one till' I dropped...
I'd have to say Mario 64. Maybe the first Colossus in Shadow of the Colossus. The Knight one was kind of epic as well now that I think about it. Oblivion, Morrowind - First getting out into the HUGE world and wondering "What should I do now that I can go anywhere I want...?" I kinda got the same feeling with OoT. FF7 had some parts I considered awesome at the time, like the Weapons awakening and so on. Chrono Trigger - I'm NOT a CT fanboy, but I just loved the amount of choices this game had, the freedom, and the unique story. I might think of more in the future.
tripple kill against 2 people in Halo 1 (twice) playing Mortal Kombat 2, and realizing "hey...blood in games is cool!" (the news told me other wise...) Staying up all night playing chex quest with my friends Turok the dinosaur hunter Mario Kart 64... the first time I SAW mario 64 running being amazed at Sonic Adventures water.... the Nintendo64 is probably my second favorite console of all time, nes being the first. Most memories are tied into those for me.
kefka poisoning doma / kefka's laugh winning the f-zero knight league at master for the first time switching on super mario bros 3 actually playing donkey kong country and understanding that it was real
The times I spent in the arcade during the 80's and 90's. I really think something special was lost once home consoles began to surpass the power of arcade games.
