yeah mine has one actually. sorry if there was some confusion since i asked explicitly for VGA, didn't mention that my monitor has dvi actually too.

from what i've heard your monitor needs to be hdcp-capable if you wanna go the hdmi->dvi method, so i'd need some hdcp-stripper right? thats why i was thinking of this hd-fury thing

Then you just need a HDCP stripper and not this HDMI to VGA thinggy. Either way if your looking to spend the $150 why not buy a new monitor shouldnt cost too much more then that.

umm your right there arent many HDCP filters. Weird because i do remember reading about them. What monitor do you have anyway?
To be honest by the time you spent the money on one you might of been better off spending abit more and getting a second monitor?

A 22" HDCP compliant monitor is around $200 from the quick search i did. A fair bit more then the original options but then the quality you will get is much better + you can always sell your old monitor and only of spent the original amount anyway.

oh well i got the limited acer ferrari 19 inch lcd, its smoking hot and not easy to get nowadays, plus it has s-video, SCART RGB, cinch and tv tuner :) hdfury, i would get that for 100 dollars from divineo, which is 63 euros for me, new good lcd with hdmi would be 235 euros (a 22 inch widescreen belinea), so hdfury isnt that bad :)

I bought a PS3 used to run Yellow Dog Linux on it and anything less than 720p is unbearable. I don't have an HDTV, so I'm in the same boat looking at VGA options...
The HD Fury was cool, but I don't have anything DVI either...

My PS2 Linux Kit VGA adapter refused to work at all on my 19" monitor. I'm assuming it's because of a sync on green issue...
My G-Combo(?) PS2 to VGA adapter works, but looks awful as it's SDTV resolution...

I have an XCM 1080p plus PSP2VGA on the way from Play-Asia.com:
    http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-de-77-2-49-en-70-2b90.html
(The original XCM 1080p is sold out on Play-Asia.com and I figured I might want to play some NES/SNES games on PSP on a CRT at some point anyway. The X2VGA would have accomplished the same thing.)

We'll see if this $70 component to VGA adapter will do the trick or if I'll have to buy an LCD with hopefully HDMI/HDCP.

Oh the pain Sony has caused...

What *exact* model number do you have? Some of the Acer LCD's do actually support HDCP over DVI.

hdcp stripping is technically illegal in the USA thanks to the dmca.

HDCP was activated on European and japanese ps3 i think

    I too live in europe.

On those consoles, even for VIDEO GAMES, if you use numeric signal and your tv isn't DHCP compliant, you got an error message. No problem on analog.

That's why, given my tv only have DVI imput (+ SD ones) i'm GLAD i have an US ps3 !
