Also, I really don't want to do any modding and ruin my console (I like to keep them untouched).

So by just buying the SCART cable and plugging it into my NTSC systems it will give me RGB signal, correct?

I know the N64 doesn't do that right? I have to hardware mod it I believe with a circuit I saw online somewhere.

Can anybody help me with the parts list for the xrgb-mini and the SCART box I was going to use?

I just want to make sure I buy the right stuff.

It's not exactly ruining them if the mod adds extra functionality and it's done right.

Look on ebay for like Sega SCART or SNES SCART, there's usually seller in Florida, I bought from them. Good quality.

Hold on, if you're definitely buying a Mini, you don't need the SCART to Component box. The Mini accepts SCART RGB but you need to convert it to JAP SCART. The Mini uses a small round DIN connector, but it comes with an adapter from 21 pin JAP SCART. This adapter http://www.ebay.com/itm/Euro-Scart-...s_VideoGameAccessories_JN&hash=item1c1c511282 can work to switch from EURO to JAP SCART. The same Florida seller on ebay I mentioned has a special cable that goes right from EURO SCART to the Mini, but I think they are out of stock. Don't see any listings on ebay.

There are also cases where the SCART cable needs certain resistors removed or the picture will be too bright. It's all a huge pain in the ass, as I've found. Again, if your TV or projector works with the SCART to Component or SCART to HDMI boxes, I would try those first. That only costs you $60 plus the SCART breakout, instead of $400 for the XRGB. Also, there are sellers on ebay who sell SCART cables with the stereo audio PRE-Broken out, so you don't need to!

Just to throw in my two cents, I'm using the same SCART to component converter box that was linked to on the first page. As was stated, this doesn't output audio, so I soldered a pair of female RCA plugs to the left and right audio pins of the SCART input plug, then ran the cables out though a hole I drilled in the case.

OK, going to pull the trigger and get the XRGB-mini.

    Thanks everyone for the help.

Anybody know if I can get a NES PPU at a decent price?

It look like that it uses a S-video cable connection that carries RGB. I guess I would need to create a SCART cable then that could connect to the XRGB?

    Has anyone done this before?

you would use the mini din8 connector it comes with for RGB or some other connector. Here is a video of mine being installed by GameTechUS:

I sent him an SNES multiout port to use.

I would order the board soon if you want one. They just came up for sale again a couple of days ago and sold out really fast last time. Lots more discussion about it on the shumps forum.

Tim's kit uses a multi-pin DIN, and you can either DIY a SCART cable to suit or buy one off his site.

Just wondering, why did you go with the top loader instead of the front loader?
    Any specific reason?

The pin connector on the front loader is not as reliable. There are lots of people who prefer the top loader mostly for this reason. It also takes up less space.

    Hi,

A small update for the thread that keeps on giving.
I just ordered my xrgb-mini from a buddy of mine in Japan.

Should be here within a week.

I also ordered the NES kit that mickcris showed me.

I now have to order cables for all my systems, and do the RBG mod on my SNES Mini and N64.

Any thing last minute I should know before I start ordering stuff off ebay and such?

    Thanks,
    Deka
