Any game that is bought for the Xbox 360 should be playable if you have the Gold Subscription, and that's final. I keep hearing of these online access codes, I guess its their way to try and combat Gamestop's used game sales? So, in the end, only the consumer gets screwed over.
Yeah I agree it got a bit weird, I like Hollywood blockbusters though so it was quite enthralling. Not realistic, but enthralling, something games are lacking these days. On the other hand the multiplayer was crap.
It is, the way this was confirmed was through a DICE employees twitter account. Basically said devs make no money on used sales implying a "fuck the consumer" mentality.
I am sure a lively debate could be had (and is more likely suited for another topic) but what is the fundamental for going against 1 time codes similar to CD keys for online play? (i.e. EA's Online Pass) Is it purely the second-hand market that suffers? EDIT: Didn't read the second page before posting a reply :S
One of my friends talks about it constantly, BF3 has this, this and THIS! I can't care less. It just a standard FPS with a new engine which as well I don't see much of a difference. I played the beta version while it was on, and I can say "yeah it's a FPS with vehicles, cool", there is no way I'm spending $100 on a game that feels like an expansion pack. Has everyone seen COD's trailer and BF3's trailer? MW3 has just copied everything from BF3 and saying they have it. What a gimmick, to be honest, who cares.. most likely the next COD will have tanks, planes etc just wait. I just don't see everyone's excitement with Cod and BF3, yeah it's fun, challenging but it's not like these are the first FPS ever made. Online FPS is just stupid, kids yelling into the mics, people cheating, team mates doing shit all.. Oh and the DLCs that will be coming out, cut me a break.
Military FPS games make me feel uncomfortable considering they're sanitizing war into video game form and making all the little kids salivate over "cool" military hardware without thinking about their real-life uses. Besides, these games are not even that much fun to play and the player bases consisting of moronic 14-year-olds just seal the deal. Can't wait for CoD to go the way of Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero, which probably won't take long with the way Activision keeps pumping out a new sequel every year.
BF3 is getting panned in the press, and MW2 ruined COD for me TBH I can't wait for HL3 or some other game to bring SOMETHING NEW to the FPS genre
About devs and used games, they should know that happens in almost any form of creative work What about painters that sell a picture for $500, then that art collector sells it for $10,000 a few years later? Anyway, this video sums up why I wont be playing MW3 online http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l1N23KcJno&feature=player_embedded
I don't bother with whatever "Online Pass" is, but traditionally a CD key was basically a method to ensure you had a legit copy of a game. Which honestly I'm fine with when it stops there. You can also ban a CD key forcing an asshole to buy an entirely new copy hoping that it might prevent them from being an asshole in the future to the tune of $30-50 per asshole incident. In this case it's basically just telling the 2nd hand market to go fuck themselves. If they gave away the client and charged $10 for access it might be a bit different.
Fuck them both. I have Sonic Generations and Uncharted 3 on pre-order. They'll be the only games I need this holiday. Call of Duty 3 was the last of the series I fully enjoyed (I really liked the multiplayer). CD4 wasn't bad but MW2 and Black Ops were just pure awful. The Battlefield 3 trailers make it look really good but I haven't had a chance to try it as I missed the beta.
Well, the BF series have introduced tons of new features to the FPS genre. Some games might have come up with some of those ideas before, but only BF have executed them properly, resulting in fun, easy-to-play games.
