bible games

hi. i wanted to have a laugh with this game after watching the AVGN review. the actual game name is bible adventures, trouble is i get a black screen with both roms i have found. i'm using pal megadrive 1 with everdrive md. not sure if it's a region lockout or rom header problem or something. rom tools say it ain't got no region lockout and with the game being a unlicensed release i gather the header may be incompatible with the everdrive? has anyone got this game working?
anyone know an easy way to fix the rom?

 

I just spent the last 15 minutes checking the game out on my Everdrive MD on a model 3 Genesis. I have no problem. Perhaps the game has a region problem to it. I'm in the USA and therefore use the NTSC spec. The ED MD has the ability to flash Game Genie codes on to the ROM that is currently loaded into the memory. Try a PAL region code for the game if one exists. If all else fails, I can email you a copy of my ROM. Got it in a torrent so I know nothing about it other than it was a complete ROM collection package.

back in the day i used to use segatool to fix region probs to use roms with my super magic drive and megadrive 1 and it worked well. segatool says theres no region protection present and with bible adventures being a unlicensed game i guess that would make sense.

 

no luck with the game genie region codes. i didn't find any specific code for bible adventures just a universal force palfix code for megadrive (eur)
tried the code and still black screen. i private messaged you my email so i can try your version. may be that the roms i got a bad or something. other than that i don't know why it ain't working on my megadrive 1. anybody else got this game working on a pal megadrive?

 

Sent you my copy of the ROM. Maybe you'll have more luck with this one. Otherwise you have problem with your hardware setup somewhere.

 

thanks but still no luck. just black screen on my pal megadrive 1. the rom don't appear region protected either. it's a strange one this. maybe it's something todo with the rom header preventing it working on a pal console. unless someone with a pal megadrive can try this i don't know ?

If there is no region protection then it's gotta be either a ROM issue like the header or hardware issue with the ED MD or the Megadrive itself.

 

cheers guys. i doubt it's an hardware issue i've tried tons of games on this setup and they seem to be playing flawlessly. i think it's a issue with the header and the pal megadrive or something. i don't know how to fix it other than basic options with some old tools. guess cos the game is a bit mad nobody is bothered about it or even tried it on pal md's lol.

 

It also black screens on an unmodified PAL MD1 on the Neo Myth cart.

 

Ok so my test results:
PAL MegaDrive - Black Screen.
US NTSC Genesis - Plays fine. This console is also modified with a 50Hz/60Hz switch, and I found that if I boot it up in 60Hz, and switch to 50Hz, then it plays.

 

wonder if anyone knows how to fix the rom for 50hz compatibility. i aint got much knowledge of that and no ips available. maybe it can be hex edired or something?

i may just get my megadrive v1 and snes consoles 50/60hz modded. that should solve issues with all games? i expect there be more games with this issue that i ain't tried yet and i got a sd2snes on the way and i expect there will be some of the same issues. i remember not being able to play lucfia 2 on my pal snes with my super wild card. first tme i played that game was on xbox snes9x emulator. i want to play on real hardware thou.
anyone know a reliable place to get old consoles 50/60hz modded in the uk with a fair price. i want the mods done but hope it ain't expensive.

 

I just tried it on a 50Hz MD2 with TMSS and it works. It black screens on my 50Hz MD1 without TMSS (you'd think it would be the other way around considering it's an unlicensed game but I'm not running it from the original cart).

That seems to suggest it's a TMSS issue and not a Hz problem.

 

Just a thought, try disabling hard reset. Maybe that will make it work.

My TV cart is in the livingroom playing the parade right now so I can't use my SEGA.
