I actually brought this point up a while back when I was arguing with Kotaku's Jason Schreier on another private board. He was saying that kotaku writers and "game journalists" in general are more qualified to speak about a game's quality because they're better versed than the general public, and I countered that I'd never seen him post on any of the dozens of very hardcore gaming sites I'd gone to over the decades, and how, when you discuss gaming over and over and over again, you find that you seem to run into the same people over and over again across different sites. And how, in my experience, I tend to trust those people's opinions that I see across various specialized hobbyist sites like Sega-16 or Assembler over someone who works for Kotaku.
