Biohazard 0 N64

Discussion in 'Rare and Obscure Gaming' started by Greatsaintlouis, May 21, 2004.

  1. I've been developing a bit of interest in the prototype of Biohazard 0 on the N64, and was wondering if anyone had any info on the completeness of the proto, stats on how many physical copies are supposed to be floating about, cart pics, movies, or even leads/sales/trades that could result in a dump of this proto.

While assembler is the obvious expert on this subject here, for reasons we're all fairly cognizant of he can't really contribute anything, so I'm looking for stuff from anyone else. By the way assembler, if this topic looks as though it could be problematic, please let me know and I'll lock it or something.

There are a couple of quicktime trailers for the game kicking about the internet......I have them both on disc somewhere....but I don't think anything short of a miricle would help me find it in my room ^_^

I remember reading the game was about 10% completed....but I can't remember where I read that to be honest ^_^ I wonder if it had the same story as the released game.....to be honest I thought the BH0 story was a bit thin and lame ¬_¬

lol, the GC and N64 must be directly compatible in some way. The games look almost exactly the same. I would do more research but I'm lazy.

  8. Yeah, that IGN article that koolkid posted is pretty much the most in-depth bit of info I've managed to find. And to be honest, I'm not so much interested in the story as I am just seeing the game - after the feat that was getting RE2 onto the N64, I'd love to see what was accoplished in this one - I'm in it for the more technical side of things, if you will.

And cahaz, you'll have to find some place to host them first. Either that, or you can email them to me - greatsaintlouis at gmail dot com (replace the at with @ and the dot with . ) and I'll host them.

    Look through

Look through Ign 64 Gsl mate and you will find loads of interviews with the Angel team who done the n64 Resi 2 and they go technical in a few of the interviews, there is also several interviews on the n64 version of Biohazard 0.

  10. Yeah, I've been through the IGN64 site several times, and it sadly seems to be about the only place with any real information on the BH0 proto for N64, which is why I posted here, hoping I could pick people's brains. All in all it seems like information on unreleased N64 stuff is a lot scarcer, or just more heavily guarded than for some other systems.

    How's you're Japanese?

    Biohzard 0 Staff Interview

They talk a very little bit about the N64 version -- it'll probably just give you blue balls.

maybe the resolution of my pictures are for something?

  15. It shouldn't be a problem - I've got 1GB of storage in my inbox, so unless they are somehow bigger than that ( ! ) it should go through fine. I'll PM you both my addresses and you can just cut and paste them - I'm just leery of spam robots sweeping my addy off the site - I know they'll get it, but why make it easy? :smt011

  18. Thanks for the link, but I don't know why in hell the website designers thought they had to put all the text in the images - I could have at least stumbled through the hilarious Babelfish translation otherwise....

I ran across an interesting post on a Capcom message board a while back where someone said that there were something like 3 protos of BH0 that were known to have leaked from Capcom's offices - one was "leaked from Capcom" (that was all they said), the second was "found in a dumpster behind the Capcom Booth at an E3" ( ! Why the hell would it be there? Do they just throw stuff like that away?) and the third was "in the hands of a private collector", which means that if it's the one I'm thinking of, it's back at Capcom or Nintendo, if not destroyed. But there are apparently at least 2 copies floating around out there.... How the hell do some people on this board get their contacts for all the rare stuff they collect? Anyways, the game right now seems to be digging for info, hoping someone steps forward or the proto pops up on eBay. :smt009 I'll look later tonight and see if I can't find that link for the forum.

EDIT: Oh, and I got the pictures, Cahaz, thanks! I've got to run right now, but I'll have a look when I get back tonight.

The thing is GSL. You gotta think who needed to have a copy of that game while it was under the green light for development.

FIrst and foremost, Nintendo has a copy, they always make a copy of any version game. I remember reading Nintendo Power where they said that NOA sometimes plays around with the old Zelda OoT game that is totally different than the commercial version. I remember reading that article back in 2000. Well it wasn't an article, it was more like a sentence in the codes/tip section. Well actually, Nintendo will have two copies, if not three. NOA, NOJ(Japan), and NOE (Europe).

Second, the other person that will always have a copy of it is the developer/creator of the game, Capcom. RE is Capcom property, they must have a copy in their "vault" or in some programmer's house ;).

Third place to have it will be the translator/porting like Angel Studios when they did RE2 for N64. It was official that they were to port the game RE0 for the N64. I'm on a hunch but, after RE2 was released they did started to work on RE0. I think its safe to say that at least 33% of the game is done but might have some bugs in that 33%. There is also content such as back grounds for other areas that have yet to be implemented in the game.

Again, this really more like an educated guess. Once the game got canned, Angel's contract was terminated and had to give up the game and all of its content, unless one of the programmers/employees there was smart enough to keep a copy for himself at his house. Once they gave it up, Nintendo still keeps a copy because the game was coded to run on a Nintendo machine, so by license agreement, they CAN have a copy of that game. And of course Capcom will have a copy too.

Another Hypothesis is that when RE0 for GC was being developed, they obviously used RE0 for N64 as a source on how the rest of the game should be made.. So there might be more copies than I have thought.

I think that we need to just rumage through some company's dumpster to see if we can find hard copies of code,CDs with old compilations of a game, etc. One man's waste can be another man's treasure :smt040
