Hameko has a video up called Biohazard 4 Cancelled Version. It looks like the earliest of promos from Capcom itself, so probably has been seen by just about everyone. Figured I'd post it though. It's file #3753
If its really long its on the Capcom Secret DVD in Japan. Its just one of the many versions of it. (if its the one im thinking of) then its referred to as Biohazard 3.5 now Theres four known ones: Devil May Cry (well, it became DMC) Progenitor Virus Ver (Airship, Mansion, Leon Infected, Smoke Tentacle enemy) Hallucinations (3.5 - Dolls with knives, Leon Infected, Hookman) Unseen version where its zombies + Umbrella's downfall EDIT: Its the old video that Capcom released, its the Progenitor virus one. The one I was talking about is a 20 minute long runthrough of the scrapped Hallucinations ver.
I always thought Capcom was stupid for reworking Biohazard 2 so radically, but the huge transition from Devil May Cry to what actually became the fourth Biohazard proved me wrong!
Were any of the cancelled version, excluding Devil May Cry, ever seen in playable form outside of the videos we have because they'd be a lot of fun to play around with. Don't get me wrong Resident Evil 4 is brilliant but they must have placed quite a bit of edit before turning it around, it'd be almost as big (or as) a job as 1.5 to 2 and some of the gameplay elements such as the Silent Hill style plane shifting and the fluro enemy with the knives would be interesting to actually play with. I also find it odd that the 3 versions are so dramatically different and yet I think that the Progenitor Virus Version is more like the Resident Evil we got then the later incarnations.
Well PN03 and RE4 actually share the 'same' game engine, I thought this never changed during the development (they did enhance the engine significantly). There must be some playable builds somewhere...
On the bonus DVD for japanese people theres a five minute gameplay look at the hookman version. Pretty interesting stuff
The Resident Evil 4 that was in early development was an inferior product. Hence it became Devil May Cry. Which makes perfect sense, as Devil May Cry is awful.
That was one of the prototypes, there are others as well, such as the hookman one. I think thats why I didnt like RE4 as much, I vowed to keep myself out of the press of the game, and even with the demo, i didnt realize how much from that initial trailer had been cut
I got the originals, lol. All three variations but I am interested in getting access, Just not sure what I can offer at this point without getting some people in trouble :banghead: You got the RE4 PS2 demo on there yet? If not lemme know and I can share it and hopefully get access too
Some of the Devil May Cry artwork has an early Dante walking around with a machinegun in a gothic surrounding. I am rather curious about how ''RE4'' looked back then.
its amazing to think that three devil may cry games came out during the span of the scrapped RE4 that became devil may cry and the actuel release of RE4.kind of like how marilyn manson released so many albums inbetween trent reznor releasing the downward spiral and the fragile.
