Black friday is the day after the american holiday of thanksgiving.

It's typically a day of retail sales, started off with items sold to the early comers ar below cost prices.

This year people are more desperate, and the sense of fun is now
    one of need.

Shoppers at a Walmart in New York pushed down the doors and
crushed an employee to death under their feet.

Fighting broke out in a Toys R us in the midwest, and someone opened fire
    killing two so far..

Quite a fucked up situation and this christmas is sure to be one of
    robberies, etc.

I wonder how long this shit that happens now will take. Beginning from 1929, it took the world about 60 years to reestablish a more or less peaceful world order. Now we have not only poverty but terrorism and all kinds of ecological problems even in industrial countries.
I would really like to see the earth in about 200 years. There has never been such a complicated combination of violence, fear and pollution.
I also wonder what those chaotic islamic fundamentalists are about to do. These religious idiots don't seem to have an impression of what they are doing to the world just for their stupid short-sighted principles.

Well fuck the world. There's not much more I can say about it when watching the news day for day and there is nothing else but politicians talking populistic shit, dumb terrorists with religious blindfolds and economic injustice from both fronts the bad and the supposedly good one. I hate the world how it is now, but I keep being optimistic about my own future. That's what lasts to me at least.

I still think that less people actually went shopping today than last year.

Who cares of fights broke out. Let the stupid people fight it out, whatever. Stop thinking the world is coming to an end, blah, blah, blah.

I actually bought some stuff, PN03 (GC), Dragon Quest 8, and Chaos Field (GC) all for less than $20.

Honestly though, these kinds of things tend to happen every year during any major holiday sales rush. Just look at the videos of people being stampeded buying Cabbage Patch Dolls back in the 80's. People were getting shot and stabbed when PS3 was released. I don't think it really reflects desperation. More like typical human greed.

This year's black friday sucked anyway, all good deals were generic POS electronics.

The only great deals were 5 units per store or less, unbelievable.

About the world, had anyone ever heard or read somewhere about a time when the world was good? and I dont mean some old coot talking about the 'good old days'...

Something like that happens here, on early january, for retailers to "clean up" the stock. Still it never had those problems.

Anyway, it's incredible that in some situations, people act like animals with rage.

Complicated, yes, but I do think the world is slowly getting better. Whether or not it will get "better" enough before we wipe ourselves out remains to be seen.

I'd have to argue with that. If you look back in time, say during the height of the black plague, the collapse of the eastern and western roman states (which lead to the subsequent rise of feudal lords across Europe, ushering in the so called "dark ages") along with the early industrial period leading to WWI. It's hard to lay claim that we've never suffered greater levels of violence, fear and pollution in the past.

That's just to name a few examples that spring to mind.

We might have greater means to destroy one another nowadays. But the over all quality of Western life at least has been vastly improved in various ways.

I'm not saying things couldn't be better. Although I certainly appreciate the quality of life we have today compared to the average person from 100 years ago.

My statement on that was maybe a little exaggerated, but in my opinion the invention of nuclear weapons changed a lot. As dark as the middle age was, we have never been able to wipe out the whole planet for political sake.

I had to work on Black Friday. I had to get up and be at work by 5:00 AM. I went there and I experienced ZERO problems.

I don't understand why people would go about trampling others, but that kind of crap had ALWAYS been around on Black Friday, and the 24th of December, too.

"Black Friday" now includes murder? I'm sure it always has.

Fixed. And to be honest Black Friday has always been like that.

BTW, why is it whenever you post a thread in OT its always about depressing things or things where you try to put a depressing "Twist" on them, like people going for free vegetables means no one can afford food?

It sounds something worst than an last action hero event,

Remember when arnold was trying as a father to get his son 1 of the last action toy figgers? Except in the case shown above people get actual killed.

I guess I say the same thing other member state on this board.

There are more idiots in this world than not! :crying: :crying: :crying:

    So sorry so sad.

    Later people!

I agree, but you may be overlooking one small detail that seperates the dark ages from the age of idiots (now)...

    STUPID. PEOPLE. IN. LARGE. NUMBERS.

Seriously, I saw a lady asking for "That new Zelda game that works on laptop computers" and a lady asked me "DO YA HAVE THOSE LITTLE ROUND GAMES"

Looong story short, the second lady was asking for PSP games, and she wouldn't buy the ones we had because $15 was too much for a game they'd beat in 5 minutes. I tried to tell her that wasn't the case but she wasn't buying it. Damn white trash people...theres gonna be a lot of sad kids this Christmas. We sold like 30 NES clone games just because they had "75" games (more like 25 crappliy done rom hacks with 3 difficulties, lol) in them!

This doesn't surprise me. It shouldn't surprise you guys either. Thankfully it couldn't happen to more deserving businesses as I hate both stores.

I guess two noobs in 1 store can create alot of havoc!
