Bomberman 2001 (Jetters proto?) Announced alongside the PS2 in 1999, Bomberman 2001 is an unreleased entry in Hudson's most famous series. A trailer for the game was then exhibited at the E3 2000 trade show. Described as featuring a new art style for the series, little is known about the game other than the following: http://web.archive.org/web/20010512...om/archive/ps2/bomberman2001/screenshots.html (Click image for full size) A Japanese site claims that 2001 eventually became Bomberman Jetters, a 2002 release on PS2 and Gamecube, though no source is cited. I'm not a Bomberman expert, but apparently what's described above does not take place in the released game. Via: Bomberman Board
When I read that it would feature a new art style for the series I only remember about the Bomberman released for the X360 at the beginning of it's life.
They are thinking, albeir really short sighted. Bomberman + color black & brown = Modern = Call of Duty = Million Seller Is the best way I can put it.
That actually lines up pretty well with Desert Bandit's article, although I don't think CoD was as dominating of a force back in 2006 when B:AZ was released. CoD 3 was released that same year, but then again so was GoW, which may have played a part. I'd enjoy seeing anything from Bomberman 2001. I remember playing Bomberman 64 a lot.
Oh.... I thought Modern Warfare was released in 2006. Darn I am so jaded to Call of Duty and how it's become the staple for developers to copy and ripoff from, even Japanese developers.
Yeah, CoD4:MW was 2007. What's funny is Square Enix covered the Japanese release. I do agree, though. Executives see those sales numbers and that's all they want. I could see how it would all make sense to them.
That would be amazing! Lets hope its a Wii U exclusive! Who knows! This game can make you a meme or something!
I did a little research last night and couldn't find anything other than what Desert Bandit has posted. I'll probably give it another more extensive go tonight. Also now the thread is Benderman 2001. This one has a lot of aliases.
I thought that somehow Act Zero was the creator's original will, as in how he wanted the game to be, but what limited hardware didn't allow. See: US NES Bomberman/JAP MSX Bomber King cover art: http://randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com/bomb/nes-king/img/msx-jf.jpg So it was actually "out of touch Japanese developers tries to emulate western games with zero guidance from actual US developers/marketers". Why am I surprised. I'd hit play it.
Bomberman has gone through many different looks over the years. The very first release in the series starred a character that looked nothing like the famous white bomber: This video shows off a tonne of different Bomberman games: It doesn't have every single title, but it helps demonstrate some of the changes the series and character have gone through. The latest Bomberman game was released last fall for mobile.
