Hello everyone, this is the first time I write here. I live in Italy, I'm sorry if my English is not the best.
I bought a PS2 TOOL. When I turn on, screen remains black and does not charge anything. What can it be? I waited a 20 minutes but nothing. This mode is the mode in both TOOL WS.

What screen remains black? PS2-TV or PC-VGA part?
If VGA are you sure you have it connected to the "hidden" vga port?

When asking these questions its handy to add more information

You changed the password of the root account, so log in as root.

I did it. My PC needs to install Linux to connect to the PS2 TOOL?

No, you can use SNsystem ProDG or Metrowerks Codewarrior under Windows and a network cable, or a serial null modem cable and a terminal program.
You can also access the TOOL's admin interface with a webbrowser to chnage various settings.

So, I connected the network cable to the PC and I installed the software that I have listed only that when you check the network address (eth0) nothing happens, after about 20 seconds, and continues with a list of various instructions to load. How can I fix this?

Do you use the TOOL IP that is displayed on the network info screen (on the PS2 A/V port)?
Are you on the same subnet?
Do you use a direct connection (with a crossover cable) or are your PC and TOOL connected to a switch/router?

I tried to connect to the router. But nothing. But yeah, I'm on the same subnet.
Excuse my ignorance but I have not noticed the IP TOOL. Exactly where is it?
Further information you can give is that at some point I said:

e100: eth0 NIC Link is Down
e100: eth0 NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex

Is the TOOL A/V out connected to a TV or something?
You should get a screen like this one (picture is from oli_lar):

I do not know why but to me I do not see that screen.
I do not know if you hit something, but I set the switches on DVD and on TOOL.
    How do I get?

I ask again: Is the TOOL A/V out connected to a TV using a regular PS2 composite or SCART-RGB cable?

    Look at the picture:
You need a regular PS2 A/V cable (the one supplied with any PS1/PS2/PS3) in the PS2 A/V out port (the 15-pin monitor out can only be used with games in progressive scan mode).
Your PC monitor should be plugged on the same board as the ethernet and keyboard ports (on the PC side obviously).

I'm connected to my PC with ProDG.
    I have three questions:
    1) how do you start a PS2 game?
    2) The development of any project you do with your PC (with ProDG?) And then load it on the PS2 TOOL?
    3) How can I change the username and pw of the network? The router has a reset button on the back, the PS2 TOOL?

1)If you have the PS2 SDK, look for diskboot.pdf, it says the following:
Read also the dsnet*.pdf and the setup*.pdf.
With the Target Manager from ProDG, click the reset button, put the correct parameters in EE and IOP reset fields and you're set, don't forget to put a disc in the drive before doing that...

2)With ProDG or with Codewarrior under Windows or under Linux with a good ascii editor, gcc and make.

    3)What username and password?
