I agree. Every time he answers a question, I learn something else that I didn't know.

I installed CentOS Linux, I installed the SDK, but I did not understand this step:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Flash Update
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Copy t10000-relxx.bin to a suitable directory on the development machine.

When the t10000-relxx.bin is copied to /tmp:

    $ dsflash /tmp/t10000-relxx.bin

The update has completed successfully if the following
    is displayed on the screen:

    :
romflash Revision: x.xx quick mode (pos=c, sig=a4) on native kernel

    inputfile: t10000-relxx.bin size: ...
    Sector Clear (8-11) oooo
    Reading [offset:0x80000] ...
    Writing ...
    Verify flash memory
    Wrote flash memory

    Complete !

    Note)
    1) As the header files and static libraries provided by SCE are now
searched in the standard directory, install them by executing
    sce/iop/install/Install.sh.

    2) When using the header files under the sce/common/include in the sample,
please make sure to include the directory, sce/common/include in
    Makefile.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I write this command: $ dsflash /tmp/t10000-relxx.bin it gives me error. What's wrong?
In relxx I wrote the kind that I have: T10000-rel300.bin

As SilverBull said, you shouldn't need to flash the rom unless there is something wrong with it. The switch needs to be on TOOL, I've never actually done this because my TOOL has been broken for many months now and it's just finding the time to fix it. (I think I know what's wrong with it now)

What version of CentOS did you install??

    Writing to Flash ROM
Of the DTL-T10000's internal software, the Flash ROM, which corresponds to the kernel of the PlayStation
2 is distributed in its newest release as an image file accompanying the development software. The Flash
ROM can be updated using the following procedure.
    1. Check to see that the following file is included in the development software that was installed.
    /usr/local/t10000-XXXX.bin
    ("XXXX" indicates the version number)
    2. Run dsflash.
    $ dsflash /usr/local/t10000-XXXX.bin
    *** Updating Flash ROM …
    *** Resetting…
    MPU-4.0 board DSW602
    3. When the program finishes and displays "Complete!", run dsreset.
    $ dsreset
    dsreset (Version X.X.XX…)
    $

This is taken from the Setup PDF that comes with SDK 2.7. I was told that version t10000-rel270.bin is more stable than t10000-rel300.bin

However I don't want to sound like an arse, but at the top of this section (Sony Development) there are a whole bunch of stickies that answer your questions. It took me 3 days to read them all when I first got mine, and every now and again I go back and read them again. It just saves all these questions like Port187 said. The community here don't mind answering questions, (SilverBull is really helpful for Tool related things because he has 2 of them, and UncleJun is also very helpful, he has 4) but all of your questions have been answered before several times. I'm sure the mods won't be very happy with this???

Never do that, you have to flash it in TOOL mode, if and only if it failed then you do it in WS mode using an extra parameter (-mpu4shadow or something).

+1. The switch should always be set to TOOL mode and stay in that position, unless you are attempting a flash ROM recovery. And before you do that, please ask us whether it is really needed or there is another way to achieve what you want.

@PS2Guy: can you please edit your post to say TOOL?

crosi, chances are that you do not need to flash the ROM at all. Just skip that step; you can come back later in case you decide that you need the ROM to match your SDK (which is not necessary, unless you develop your applications with the Sony SDK and want full dsidb support; everything else should just work with any flash).

To try connecting to the TOOL, run a command like this:

    /usr/local/sce/bin/dsidb -d <TOOL-IP>

Where <TOOL-IP> is the IP address assigned to your TOOL. If your setup works as expected, this IP address is shown on the network information screen, which the TOOL shows on the TV directly after booting.

Silverbull Ok, I did, I managed to start the game and connect! Thanks to all who have had the patience to help me. Although he knew little or nothing of Linux, now I understand how to use the TOOL of course in its basic functions. Thank you again!

    Crosi, I am Rino...
Thank you for your suggest, i appreciate.
I do not want lie to you.
Prodg is not enough to program the PS2 and i think that find the software in the piracy for PS2 is difficult...and a crime, and even if you setup the PS2, you have to fight with a very hard programming concept that include very hard assembler because is too late for engine.
But Thank you anyway, give me your e-mail the next time
    Buon Anno!!
    Rino

I do not get why people want a PS2 TOOL when they have no idea how to use it

Don't worry. You're not the first crosi. And your English is fine!

Cause most people think (myself included) that you can just pop a game in and away you go.:-(

I bought the PS2 TOOL for collection to learn to program seriously. I knew it was difficult, but every time you get a result, the satisfaction is greater. Nobody is born learned, we all started from something without knowing anything.
