Bought a SCPH-7502 and found out it had a Modchip looking for info

    Hello,

I'm pretty new to modchips i normally go for and have a base understanding of softmods but i know back in the good old days
hardmods were the thing, so i decided to take my PS1 apart to get some photos of the modchip that is in it and see if someone
could give me an idea of how it works and such below is a link to said images.

Basically, yeah - without that wire, it generates NTSC4.43 in NTSC mode (I.E. NTSC but with the PAL color subcarrier). With the wire, it generates PAL60 (I.E. PAL encoding, PAL subcarrier but NTSC frame timing).

Although there are some TVs that can handle NTSC4.43, PAL60 support is a lot more common.
