Boy is eaten after taunting crocodiles with slingshot

I can't say I m surprised by the outcome, however unfortunate. Kids these days have no respect for big green things with sharp teeth

 

He deserved it...... sigh. I feel slightly bad saying that, but comeon. They knew they werent suppossed to be there, let alone attack things that can kill them in an instant. :fresh:

That's just Darwin at work. I'm far more interested in is the part about the zoo in Shanghai that had Kangaroo boxing matches. I always thought that was a joke.

 

Anyone else find it weird that they used SNIPERS to kill the crocodile?

 

Now that you mention it, that is pretty strange. But now that you said that, that makes me wonder even more..... What do they usually use to kill croc's?

For crying out loud, saying that he deserved it isn't the right thing for a child. It was a very unfortunate and sad thing to happen and there's none to blame except the teachers or whoever was responsible for the child's safety.

 

Expect to see a follow up story of the croc having been turned into a Croc Mouse.... ;-) Geez, you'd get a pretty good workout shoving a Croc Mouse across your desk!

I actually read this a few days ago. What got me is, why they killed the crocodile? I mean... they basically killed a crocodile for being a crocodile. What did they expect would happen?

 

no, they killed one crocodile.

They did it in order to make sure he was eaten.

The poor animal's life didn't matter to them in their 'making-sure' process.

Well they were 9 year old boys, they could have been out playing on their own. Otherwise whoever was watching them did a piss poor job.


The fact that they killed it inorder to confirm that it had eaten the boy kind of gets me as well.
What if they found nothing in the first croc? That doesn't prove that the others didn't eat him. How many would they have killed? I'm no animal rights activist, but it just seems like a stupid action.

How did they ID the boy anyway? I picture them cutting the crocs stomach open and the boys face just flopped out onto the ground "yep that looks like him"

 

no they didnt kill the rest either. Some parts were found, meaning that other crocs had eaten the rest of the boy.

They just killed the first one for confirmation that he's dead, so they don't file him 'missing'.

 

Oh i got that, but what would it prove if they HADN't found any remains in the one croc?

There's no means to sedate a croc and pump its stomach?

so, being dragged in the water and then ripped apart by 4 or 5 crocs is no sure reason to say he's dead and not missing? aight...

 

the only description of the event was most probably given by his same-aged friend . as such the kid's word wasn't enough to provide certainty in the matter.
