    BREAKING: Moore quits Microsoft!

BIG NEWS: Moore will be replaced by Don Mattrick, a former president of EA and current external adviser for Microsoft, who will now lead the Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft.

Peter Moore, corporate vice president of interactive entertainment business, entertainment and devices division at Microsoft (Aka head of Xbox), will be soon leaving the company to head up EA Sports.

This is definitely a big surprise...

I wonder if is just a matter of corporate bonus (like he says) or that something bad is happening at the Xbox division.

Dunno, this brings bad memories from the DC days...

EA is a profitable and probably continuous entity.

Xbox is not. I doubt they can afford to do another xbox, and
    their stockholders have final say.

I don't see this as anything big really, for either company. It's just a rotation, and they re professionals, nothing personal.

makes me wonder if it was Moore's loud mouth that caused the 3 year warranty promise along with the 1.5 billion dollar cost.

Legally speaking, the only reason he'd have to clear his desk (out of dignity mostly, to avoid public humiliation) would be for some shady business as a director.

Or the lack of proper tests on production prototypes that may have shown the need for better cooling.

Either way, I doubt he wanted to leave due to his family: you dont get 2 tattoes for your company just to quit cuz you cant stand a long trip to your job...

This is where I see the Microsoft being to crumble...
...Running parallel to when the Sega went down, we need to fill the gaping hole where the 3rd competitor should be!

Has anyone thought that maybe he just wants a change of scenery? Not every move has to be the death knell for a company.

Kutagari stepped down and I don't see Sony collapsing. So what's to say that with Moore stepping down will cause MS to do it?

Sure it's eating up money more than it's making, but it is a console that will be around for years and about 1-2more years is when they will be making a profit from it.

    Sega:
Lack of money, console that's having trouble keeping up with competition, bad rep, Moore steps down.

Lack of shareholder approval more like it.

Don't confuse money with projected growth and projected income. Companies are hellbent by their constitution to be profitable - thus, any division that isn't profitable within a reasonable time-frame is cut-off or the directors could get in all sorts of shitty swamps.

I'd count being $4 billion down low on cash, whether or not Daddy Bill can bail them out or not, cause there are shareholders to please, and they are the ones that run the show.
