I'm writing a series of 5 Poems about a paranoid British Gangster (the final 3 will use British slang the first 2 don't since the identity of the narrator isn't clear)

Anyway If I like what comes of this I might take a stab at writing a Crime Novel. Something I never tried before.

You can check my writing out on my deviantart account.

So as research I'd like to watch a few British Crime Films. Besides Layer Cake and the Original Get Carter (with Michael Caine Not Stallone) The and MAYBE MR. Madonna's movies. I'm not sure what's worth seeing.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, The Krays, The Long Good Friday, The Italian Job (the original good movie, not the crap rehash), Brighton Rock, The Lavender Hill Mob (really old), Essex Boys.

Just don't try to write in Cockney Rhyming Slang or and English accent.

I tried it and I failed horribly. I don't really like the poems all that much to be honest. I might change the style for the last 3 into paragraphs.

I wouldn't consider clockwork orange a crimefilm so much as one of Kubrick's best mindfucks. I might steal Alex's speech patterns though.

American --- actually banned in the UK.

    Try Absolutely Fabulous.

Trainspotting has loads of drugs in it... not exactly a crime film though.

Human Traffic isn't exactly a crime film but is a great film about 90s UK.

Charlie is probably the 'ultimate' film of the genre.

...Other's of note would be The Krays, Lock Stock, Snatch, Long Good Friday and 51st State.

And there I was reading the thread and thinking there's no taste left here. BK, class..I'm sweating like a C***

I'd recommend 'Hard Men' even though its considered crap by basically everyone.

erm it isn't british, but I thought it was very graphic (both story and visuals), if it's just research you're looking for then ignore, but for inspiration -
