Hi there, I seem to be struggling to burn psx games. Is it possible to download psx games from emuparadise and burn them to disc? I have used pakkiso to convert the .ecm file and the .ape files to get the bin files, then getting the cue file for that game and then using alcohol to burn the cue file on verbatim cd's at 10x on playstation raw dao setting. My psone 102 with onechip seems to take forever to get to the PS screen to determine europe or america disc and then it gets stuck and hangs, yet all my old games i burnt years back where exact copies of discs and they work fine both ntsc and pal. I have tried img burn but thats the same too. any ideas?
Try different media, different (lower) recording speeds and maybe even a different burner. But really, once you factor in your time spent on asking around and experimenting with this, you probably might just as well have bought the originals in the first place.
I've had similar problems with burned psx games being stuck on the boot screen... The solution for me was to burn them at a higher speed (like 32x) and then it would work..
I would start by burning a copy of one of the original discs (find one that it's in good condition and doesn't have anything like libcrypt on it) and checking to see if that boots correctly - if it does' then it means you have a problem with your regenerated disc images. If not, then your PSX doesn't like either the media or the CD recorder you are using. As one of the other posters said, try different write speeds - even fast ones - most modern CD-Rs have dye chemistry that's designed for a very short write strategy, and writing them slowly forces the drive to set the write laser power to a very low level, which often doesn't work well.
Forget converting to different disc images. Make sure you either get bin/cue (CDRWin) or for games that have libcrypt/separate music tracks img, ccd, sub (CloneCD). Verify the checksum of the disc image against Redump.org so that you know you have got a non-corrupt image. Burn on decent quality media no lower than half the max speed of your drive.
As ploder says, all you need is CDRwin and CloneCD, plenty of guides out there. It's worth buying the originals though unless your attempting to back up your own copies.
Be sure your burner and the CD-Rs you are using aren't crap. It's pretty common for people to buy low quality discs and expect that there is no difference but there is indeed.
