Yup, totally agree with this. I thought Tetris DS was awesome until I played a load of Tetris The Grand Master 3: Terror Instinct. I now think Tetris DS is terrible (infinite spin!) and like you say, there's no challenge, it's just an endurance test.

TGM2 and 2+ (which I prefer) are perfectly emulated, yes. TGM3 not, however - to my knowledge.

The official Tetris game on FB used to be a really good version, I think! And many good players from Korea/Japan/Indonesia played it quite competitively online. I was very much hooked to it until they introduced ingame-purchases. Purchase your win by buying extra lines that can be sent to the enemy. Screw them, haven't played a round since that was introduced. Anyways, it was a great version for competitive play, and I wasted many hours of my life on it. Even reached Lvl 101 in both 2P and 4P modes, which was the highest rank back then.

 

The Grand Master 2 is what I think I have on my 360. It's BEASTLY. You can unlock more extreme modes after you've beaten the already unlocked modes. But even those aren't a cakewalk and I am pretty darn good at Tetris.

After Lvl 20 it gets mildly fast, but really, it's still nothing compared to TGM. Try it out yourself, TGM2+ runs fine on MAME.
