Although not extremely interesting, the election campaign has ended tonight and the couting of the votes has started here in the Atlantic provinces. The defending Liberal candidate Paul Martin is defending his position against the Conservative Party's Steven Harper.

Cahaz and RyanGamer know what I'm talking about [IMG].

The best that could happen is minoritory Conservative. Not Paul martin and his liberals, and stephen harpen cant do any shit like removing gay mariage, not accepting kyoto's treaty and other things like that.

its sad that theres no real good alternative to the liberals. Harper is of the right, and i hate that.

    but thats all my opinion.

And subbie knows what we are talking about too :)

The thing is guys, your conservatives are more liberal than our liberals. You never see any of the higher echelon of the DNC talking about the stuff conservatives in Canada talk about, you know, things that are in the public good and everything.

I hate Harper too but like you said cahaz, there isn't any real good alternative to Martin, that's why I voted for one of the other parties. Looks like Harper has taken the lead since I last checked though...
And some of his statements against French-Canadians (like me and cahaz, not sure about subbie) and Atlantic-Canadians such as myself make me hate him even more.

Putting Harper into power will likely eliminate some of the actual socially good things the Liberals did like signing the Kyoto Protocol and legalizing gay marriage.

And my mistake, I did forget subbie in Montreal.

    Hah, good one Mairsil. :)

Damn... yeah, it 's a tough call in Canada when most of your choices are complete dorks. For many years I liked the Liberal Party but hated Jean Chretien (for all those flippant pepper spray jokes while he bent over for Asian dictators at APEC), so last election I voted for something like the Rhinoceros or Marijuana party or somebody...

When I get back to Canada (been away for 4 years and counting) I look forward to seeing how it has changed... like Charleton Heston in Planet of the Apes.

still surprised the bloc quebecqoius (sorry bout the spelling) won more seats than the NDP, although around my town the NDP stole the show

And what about Belinda Stronich? Anyone with the initials B.S. Is good enough to represent Canada..hehe (Royal Canadian Air Farce line)

I saw it on the drudge that the conservatives now have control. Of course your conservative party isn't as conservative as ours here, that's for sure.

  12. I hope the good guys win!

the problem with the conservatives now is that they will try to look like liberals, and wont do any garbage for the next two years, until the next ellections to get full power, and then they will get their conservative projects on the table. Gay marriage, Kyoto treaty, War in irak, Anti-missile shield, and avortement.

Oh well, fun to see a political thread without any flamewars and still not locked. :)
maybe its because we arent talking about american politics.

Well, canadians arent conservatives. They voted for them because it was the only party that could kick the liberals off, and because they tried to look non-conservative too. Your type of conservatives would never pass here.

i guess its different from countries to countries.

Sorry. I don't pay much attention to Canada's politics. I was just going by what was being said on mainstream news..

the best quote from that election proccess was from harper, who said something along the lines of: There still will be opposition, so dont worry.

Isnt he suposed to make us agree with what he wants rather than saying "if i do something stupid, the opposition will be able to stop me from doing it anyway" ?
