I saw on IGN recently they had an interview with president of now defunct Factor 5 development studio. They were making this for Xbox at one point before being cancelled, then moved on to Xbox 360 before being cancelled again and finally made a Wii version which was 100% completed but for some reason was never released anyway here is the interview and now they have shown off trailers for the Wii version http://au.ign.com/articles/2014/10/10/more-cancelled-star-wars-games-revealed http://au.ign.com/articles/2014/10/...ue-squadron-wii-game-footage-found?watch=true
Very sad. Star Wars is probably the biggest sci-fi franchise, or at least right up there? You'd think nothing could be safer from cancellation than Star Wars games, especially since they tended to be really high quality. What a ridiculous paradox.... New and unproven IP gets tragically canceled, not Star Wars!
I would give anything to have the Rogue Squadron remake in my hands. I hope we get it in some form or another one day.
I had read that same interview and was intrigued about the remake as well. Its a shame so many Star Wars games have been cancelled as of late. A lot of Star Wars games are quality titles eg. Kotor, Battlefront, Force unleashed, etc. I suppose we have Battlefront III to look forward to if it doesn't get butchered by EA and Digital Illusions.
That's a shame. Due to mismanagement, lack of quality people, etc.? I didn't think LucasArts was that much in limbo until a decent way through at least the development of 1313. I could be way wrong, though.
@MBMM - I'd say that the seemingly rushed Force Unleashed 2 was a pretty clear indication that something was wrong. There was also that Indiana Jones game which they announced with Force Unleashed - that was silently cancelled. As well as Battlefront 3, and a new KOTOR by Obsidian. The last generation is where everything starts to fall down for LucasArts, and they seem to have done a terrible job of supporting the developers making their games. Rogue Squadron is sadly just another casualty of their management changes. It sounds like it was pretty far along, so maybe it will leak one day =)
I believe Star Wars: First Assault and a recent mobile game were quite far along in development before being cancelled too. Those were casualties of Disney buying Lucasfilm, though.
Thanks for the info! While a leak would be exciting, I don't see it happening. It would be a HUGE deal, and as soon as Disney would catch a whiff there would be a C&D issued almost immediately, if not something worse.
No problem! And Desert Bandit is absolutely right. In fact, First Assault was allegedly intended to be a market test to gauge interest in a new Battlefront. Unfortunately MBMM, you're probably 100% right about that haha. Still, give it a decade/couple of console generations, and they may no longer care
After watching the trailer today it seemed like a pretty cool game. At least an upgrade from the Rogue Squadron games from N64 and GC someone must have this game somewhere.....playing it right now properly.....
We can hope. I'm always interested in any Star Wars game. Disney's buyout was pretty horrible news for pre-release build lovers, though.
