I'm going to download this tonight although I'd rather have a real disc. I still play my Saturn shooters alot. No doubt I won't be playing this in 10 years because my 360 will probably die by then and the arcade live store will be gone.

Good move, Cave! At last, a console version for this great shooter!

    Required reading:
    Guwange Game Talk
Guwange Story <-- although I think Cave offer their own version for the US version?
The Man Who Made ESPRade and Guwange

All are of course awesome. Be careful not to burn your cock.

As for the game, it has 2 things I fucking loathe, and it's still perhaps my favorite Cave game. For the record, those are game-long chaining, and really mundane boss-milking (not as bad as ESPRade though).

Of course it had to come out after I'd spent all my MS points...but I hope this means more Cave games are coming to XBLA instead of ridiculously priced Japanese disc releases.

Damnit. If I got this I'd also have to get another arcade stick and would be spending money on the 360 which, so far, I have not done. Maybe I can get my brother to buy it.

Uggh... I cringe at thinking of any Arcade game being played w/ a pad, but this one especially. The whole manipulating of the Shikigami means you're changing directions a lot.

I don't know mate, the Hori pad works pretty well for when you just want to lay back and play. Well enough for me to 1CC Mushihime Sama. I mostly use it for fighting games though such as 2D SNK titles or even the last Street Fighter.

I have one of these as well, it's an excellent pad (though the Up direction on my particular pad seems to have broken). It's indispensable for games like Mega Man and Super Meat Boy.

So very quickly...I bought this last night and proceeded to play.
What are the main differences between the "Blue" and "Xbox 360" game types that show up in the menu?

I tried them briefly and didn't see any apparent changes...is it the difficulty or tweaks to the scoring/chaining mechanic?

In 360 mode, you control your shinigami with the right stick and your character with the left stick, which is interesting, but seems to make the game way easier.

One of the prime examples how to put out highly desirable shooter on XBLA.
Awesome game with lots of options for customization, available at measly $10 - it's a must have title.
If it does well, Cave will probably bring more of their portfolio to XBL Arcade.

Oh and Bangai-oh should be available this november according to OXM.

Almost every Cave-developed arrange mode is far easier. I've not gotten the game yet but I've heard 360 mode guts the scoring as well.

Blue Mode just has minor tweaks. It was originally a special PCB for a Cave Matsuri (about 3 years ago). Cool that they put it out.

Off topic but still Cave, DoDonpachi Dai Fukkatsu comes out on November 25th! Oh yes. No stupid download for this. Real media so in many years to come it can still be played just like my Saturn Donpachi games :) Quite expensive though.

Speaking of which, why didn't I know there was a budget release of Mushihime-sama Futari now?

Sure you're not thinking of Death Smiles? There's only one release of Mushihime-sama Futari. It's probably just cheap now.
