Another week, and another look at an unseen Double Helix title. This one is more complete than Hellions which I posted about before. As always, it is an early prototype, so there are glitches and things that aren't finished, like the fact that there is all of one zombie model. But at the very least, the game looks quite good, and dismembering zombies is a fairly unique feature. This video just has the first level of the prototype where you play as a soldier. Solid gunplay, but no real hook for those of you out there that are getting burnt out on the zombie genre. The other levels mix things up by allowing you to play as one of the infected, but I dont want to spoil too much until I can get the other videos edited. This title was in development around 2011 or so, to give some perspective. The market has changed a bit since then. It looks incredible - it's hard to understand why a title can get so far... then get canned. Is this build as far as it got - or are there later builds with.. um... more than '1' zombie? Great share, thanks (as always) Borman.
Sadly I dont know how much further it got. But there are three more levels left to show which are radically different than this. Bonus screenshot from the second mission. Essentially you have been rounded up at taken to a converted school because of the infection. Fire can be seen burning the turned.
Holy shit this game looks so damn good! Very interesting game, man I can't believe that this game got canned.
Probably the redundant idea (FPS + Zombies) was probably the reason for it's cancellation. It wouldn't look unique at all. Sad as it looks fine. I think it would have done OK if it was released in Steam.
In 2011 it was more unique. And as I already said, there was more to it, in that you play as an infected. I just havent recorded it yet.
The second part of cancelled Chain of the Dead is up! No more shooting, much more zombie-ing around! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f00L7Av1LIE
