Rare has recently turned 25 and has decided to change its logo and maybe not for the better...It seems the golden days of Rare are long gone with fans still praying for a true sequel to Perfect Dark or Conker but lets not rule them out yet. They have a pretty big presentation set for Microsoft at E3. Although myself am I little skeptical about this since after reading this... Whats everyones thoughts on Rares new insight to controller free games? I myself still prefer to have a controller in my hand rather than waving my hands around like a twat.
Don't really care, it's not like these guys have done anything all that great in like 10 years. Perfect Dark Zero especially was a total assfest, still wonder what the reviewers who gave it 9/10s were smoking.
Have to agree the days of N64 quality games are out the window. Although when Perfect Dark Zero first came out I did quite enjoy online for it (well to be fair it was one of the only 360 games at the time) but apart from that not much to say. Banjo was ruined in nuts and blots who ever came up with that idea needs sacking.
Thank you! I ve been saying the same thing ever since they announced the damn game. I m a huge Banjo fan and this just didn't cut it for me..I mean I LOVE lego and I LOVE Banjo but I don't think they should mix. Banjo was about jumping and exploring new worlds in style, like mario
I fully agree Barc0de. When the teaser was first shown I think every fan was excited but many were put off when the actual gameplay footage was shown for the first time. To me the game was more of a spin off than a true sequel. Not one to brush off a Rare game without trying it I gave it a shot and to say the least all the characters were there but the whole style of the game was wrong in my eyes. It seems Microsoft are pushing the casual market now and is using Rare for this.
^ Yeah, Viva Pinata is one of my favorite games for the 360. So addictive. I really hate this "controller free" stuff, and hope that the future is controller-free free.
It was a great hangover game. Oh, and the new logo is very generic.. The loss of the gold R sets it in concrete that they are basically totally different now.
Yeah and I'm not surprised they are trying to set themselves apart from their former self as most of the people that we're with the company left years ago to form other studios etc.
I guess people aren't entitled to have their own opinion of things? Or even like them since they are so terrible by "your" standards?
Both Conker games were awesome, but the sales were crap, specially the second game, so dont hold your breath on a sequel ever being made. Anyways, Rare is probably getting their image bumped up for the truckload of wiisports ripoff they plan to make for Natal.
I dunno I guess they could always re-brand Conker for Natal like they did with the N64 version (Which I personally think turned out for the better) The problem with the sequel as well was the multiplayer. On the N64 it worked really well whilst on the Xbox they pretty much changed everything on it. Although I did enjoy it at the time. It was a laugh. The single player was pretty much just the N64 one with re done graphics so not much of an issue there unless you preferred the older style. Also I think one of the reasons the sales were pretty lacking was because it came out pretty late in the Xbox's life. Still dunno what took all that time for it to come out to be honest.
if Viva Pinata was so awesome we would all have bought the sequel. I just own the original because I got it for a tenner.
Word, kiddie-stuff Nintendo didnt do it in the middle of the pokemon madness, but oh-so-serious MS cant have that kind of language on their for-adults console:lol:
