Has to be related to the G8. Some of those protesters are nuts. I hope the causalities are low.

We aren`t allowed to leave the building today :-(

Turns out to be a tourist bus from what I have heard via interweb radio :-(

Argh, I got a horrible feeling in my stomach when I first heard about this. I really hope it isn't too serious for the city and everyone in it. Awful news.

I am fine thanks...was in early and in the gym.....and ride a scooter to work so can get home quite easily

Think Paulo is more north london

My office is here (red circle not there now but Silk Street) you can see where Liverpool Street is etc.

The best part is I have just heard there are also closures on area`s around the south as well.....Croydon & Sutton....where I live :)

At least 4 explosions in london (3 on the tube, 1 on a bus).
Al Qaeda Group claims responsibility (says BBC).

    What a sad day :(

Hope all the Londom members are ok. <3

Snowy, I'm really sure you shouldn't blame protestors for terror attacks that are usally caused by extremist terrorists. You're on track somewhere there, though, it was DEFINITELY aimed at the G8. Terrorists attack places that are near the world attention - it causes more fear and publicity for them.

Holy Shit, man, I'm watching the news on CNN and the BBC right now and it's total chaos. The London Underground system is closed, and we're talking about 208 people being treated already - though they seem to be stable. According to CNN, there are security measures in the U.S. as well but there's no colour change yet.

Damn. I hope everyone is okay.

i heard it was related to alquaida, and that they wanted to hit every country that contributed to the war in iraq (that's what i heard!). I'm sure the day wasn't randomly choosed though (g8 and all).

It's not that i realise that alot of our members are from UK, i hope no one have been touched in their families, friends or anything.

Some part of Al Khaida admitted to it waiting to find out more!

"Secret Organisation al Qaeda in Europe" :smt014

Girl in my office her Husband is a Fireman and he was attending this scene earlier.

Then went to an underground station where they were having to get a trolley in the tube to get people out the other end as such a mess :-(

I hope nobody here got hurt, or their friends and family. I think it's a sad day for sure... just like in Spain.

Alan, closures? I think you'll find the WHOLE underground is closed, as are all zone 1 bus routes. Trains into London will be affected too, they're stopping at Reading.

Looking at the pictures of that bus and knowing how overcrowded Londons transport system is I find it hard to believe there are only 2 fatalaties. :(

I'm sure there are plenty who are unreported/undiscovered. :(

The majority of news coverage has the fatality number at just two, although I've seen conflicting reports of up to twenty in some places. Another strange contradiction is how the BBC are mentioning that the "usual suspects" have claimed responsibility, yet most US sites - who I would have expected such prejudice from - and even Al Jazeera haven't mentioned anything about this. Speculation? Rumours? Conspiracies? Whatever the truth, you can't ignore the damage caused and how lucky it was that more did not suffer. My heart goes out to anyone caught up in this atrocity. I just hope that any affected Assembler members can at least get home quickly and safely tonight...

P.S. According to MSN, the dead is at least 45. Meanwhile, the previously-unknown "Secret Group of al Qaeda's Jihad in Europe" faction is now appearing on many news sources, so that rules out the earlier powercut or crash theories. Also, it seems as if Bush has delivered yet another of his textbook anti-terror statements while Blair heads down to assess the horror of this scene. (I don't want to seem unsympathetic to these people - it's just that I'm not exactly George W's number one fan, you see!)
