    NINTENDO SIXTY FOUR!!!

I got my N64 second hand in 2002. I loved it. despite the fact i was eight at that time and knew it was old. Somewhere on a vhs is me opening it i shouted OH MY GAWWWWWWWWWD jumped up and ended up smacking my head off a shelf.I cried both tears of sadness and tears of joy that day.

My Great Grandmother's name was Norhimzar which means either Amy or Naomi. The money left to me was held up in court for 8 years after her death.

Soon as I got the check guess what I got?

    What else a Dreamcast.

    Win!

It took 8 years for $200 to go through the court systems? That's efficiency!

Most pics of my childhood gaming will be with an old style PS1 and the original controller before the dual analouge/dual shock came out as that was the first console that i really wanted and the one i played the most.

I have probably spent more time on the PS1 when i was younger than i have playing all consoles from when the DC/ps2 came out till now and most of the time it was either (all)fifa, (all)resident evil and silent hill. I must try and dig out some photos that have not been scanned and get them on my pc so i can probably laugh at myself looking silly trying to game.

I was 5 when I got my first games console a Acetronic MPU 1000. The Grand Prix cartridge was much better then other motor racing games of the time on other consoles. I was quite calm about it... :)

One year I wanted Kirby Super Star and Tetris Attack for my birthday. I was expecting I'd only get one. Birthday rolls around, only one present left, no SNES games yet. I unwrap the present and it's an old mailing box. I feel ripped for five seconds before I open the box and find both games inside. Win.

Then there was the Christmas where I inexplicably got a Riven strategy guide among my gifts but apparently not the game. (That was a great strategy guide, BTW.) Again, one present left: it's a clothing box. The person it's from says "I hope it fits" as I open it: it's Riven in Solid Snake-worthy camouflage. Epic win.

Man, I wish I still got pranked like that.

My parents thought it would be a good idea to buy me Pokémon. The result was an unending and crippling addiction to my GameBoy that required an intervention. The moment that started it all:

and here is a slightly happier moment:

edit: needless to say I grew up to wear tetrimino costumes to work, so my parents must have done something right. :)

I remember the Christmas I got Final Fantasy III (VI) and Chrono Trigger. God, that was the happiest Christmas morning EVER. In my LIFE. I played through FF6 first and then tackled Chrono Trigger.

I also remember when I was younger I used to rent Secret of Mana all the time from the local Movie Gallery. One birthday came up and that was all I wanted. But I guess it was out of print by then (this was before Squaresoft was an overhyped shitfest) so my Mom was having a bitch of a time finding it. Finally, she just went and got the folks at Movie Gallery to sell her their copy, and when I got it for my birthday it still had my save on it even though I hadn't rented it in awhile!

I don't have any pictures of holidays and birthdays, but I know my mom does. When I turned 4 I got a SNES for my birthday from my grandmother. That gift was the ONLY thing I cared about. In my mind I must have thought all other gifts could go to hell, and I was ready to leave the skating rink to go home! Forget my family and friends I got a Super Nintendo and Super Mario World! I must say it really was quite hilarious. No I'm sure my family regrets ever getting me into video games. =P

As for a second thing that's rather funny, I've basically been engulfed in video games my whole life. When I was a baby my parents would play super mario bros. and other nes games and I would just sit there mesmerized not saying a word. When I was just an infant and I would cry constantly all my parents had to do was put the baseball game in and let the simulation mode run.

I remember one christmas getting some petrol RC car and being told becuase i had got that its why i didn't get a ps2 and then being offered 2 presents but i had to open only one at a time and there was a shiny copy of GT3, then the 2nd pesent was a shiny boxed Dual shock 2 and they then pulled out the last present which was a PS2, i was ready to accept not getting a ps2 since i'd have something else which was excellent.

Another good memory was getting GTA3 as that was the first PS2 game i went out and bought or at least i got my dad to buy since i wasn't 18 and playing that for the first time was excellent as i had soo much fun messing about in the game for the first week i had it just becuase i found it soo amazing.

I'd love to find pics of me and my PS1 back when i first got it becuase i was so addicted to it and the only game which stopped me from playing my PS1 was multiplayer goldeneye with my friends on an N64 one of them had.

    Yeah i hear ya...

Only time my parents outright bought me a system for Christmas or Birthday was along time ago... and it was the TI/99 4a Computer console ... that thing was great (still have it with all my games and Tapes).. wore out a few controllers not from misuse but from use...

For future holidays or birthdays i would get maybe 1 game... as they would want me to save up money to buy them instead..

My Dad actually split me 50/50 for my original TG-16 which was sweet...

So many good memories associated with games and gaming.. (not sure if i have any pics)

While I don't remember my age, at the time(around 3 as it was 1989), I do however remember owning an NES back in the day when it was still alive....but dieing. I owned it I believe around 1989. I remember being sick and playing SMB3 all day long. Those were the days. My NES died(as many of them did) in 1990 which led to my happiest moment in my life...

In 1990 I got a Genesis model 1. That started my life long obsession or love for SEGA. I LOVED my genesis. I played the hell out of it. Sonic IMO blew mario away. Lotus turbo Challenge was(and still is) one of my favorite racing games on a console. Playing Rocket Knight Adventures, Mortal Kombat and NBA JAM on my genesis was heaven to me over the years. I never cared to own a SNES. Infact, I thought(still do think) it was the weaker link between the two and that the Genesis was superior.

A couple years( i believe) after that I got a Game Gear w/ rechargeable batteries and a couple games(I cant remember the ones I got w/ it but I do remember getting a sonic and ren and stimpy game on it). I remember thinking(why would ANYONE want a shitty gameboy when you can have this amazing handheld). Needless to say, as I grew up loving everything SEGA...that feeling still sticks with me to this day.

If I can find any pics I would post em up.

I need to find the photos of my when I was 3 getting my first Genesis/mega drive.
I've found pictures of me getting NES games for christmas , The NES was bought 2 years before I was born for my mother to play when my brother was a baby.

What's funny though is that my mother could beat Super mario brothers before I was even born and it took me 15 years of my life before I even was remotely good enough to beat it lol.
I have all of the mario games up till galaxy and I still have only beaten one of them lol.

Mario never really was my forte.

As a young kid, I never had any systems of my own(my mom comes from the old school of anti-video game paranoids that thought that video games made you fat and rotted your brain), but my friend had an NES and my uncle had an SNES, so, needless to say, I went over to those places ALOT. My NES friend had Adventures of Bayou Billy, Blades of Steel(still my #1 favourite NES game), Super Mario World/Duck Hunt and I'm sure he had others, but those are the ones I remember most.

My uncle, on the other hand, had Starfox(when I was 5, I used to think the game was too hard), Super Mario World, NHL '96 and Donkey Kong Country. It always bugged me how they thought that all I ever wanted to do was play video games. Truth is, I would have gone outside more if someone there was willing to dit. But every one was either gone, busy or lazy, so I really had nothing better to do.

Well, when I was 8, I got an N64, and it all went downhill from there pretty much.

Unfortunately, I don't have any photos and I might have some VHS tapes of gameplay footage from a couple of years ago, but most of that probably got erased.
