We had goose for Christmas dinner today, absolutely delicious, although in fairness it's the first goose we've had for years and years - most Christmas dinners are turkey. My dad cooked it as always. One of these years I'm going to have to knuckle down and learn how to do whatever magic it is that he performs to make it taste so good. Plenty of booze has been drunk, a couple of games have been played, and the new Wallace and Gromit was watched. Not a bad day, in all. I think I'm going to relax with some whisky on the rocks and blast through a few levels of Mirror's Edge.
Honey baked ham Mash potatoes Corn Hawaiian sweet rolls It was awesome, especially the honey baked ham:thumbsup:
honey baked ham, mmm...sounds lovely. Thank god next year were having turkey, i couldn't do having another christmas of curry and chinesse food.
Is there not a Japanese word for turkey, then? Here you go, Yakumo... just for you: Turkey, roast potatoes, bacon, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, gravy and chestnut stuffing (there was another kind but it hadn't made its way down the table!) The traditional and obligatory bad cracker joke! Christmas pudding with brandy butter AND cream! Alchy: I fell asleep half way through Doctor Who and stayed asleep right through Wallace and Grommit! :crying: My Mum said I couldn't be woken - methinks they didn't try too hard!! I agree that you should learn the secret. My grandmother has cooked our Christmas pud for many, many years. It is a secret family recipe. She finally passed it on to my Aunt, who had a great go but admitted it wasn't quite the same. Still very good, though! Hazuki: What is goat like?
We had prawn cocktails, followed by goose. Love the prawns, but wasn't so impressed by the goose. I don't miss Mr Edmonds & his crinkly bottom one bit, but I totally agree about Elstree & Carry On's. Thank god for DVDs, so I can carry on getting my fix of the old classics.
Oh, how I miss real home oven made food! Did you know that most Japanese don't even have an oven! Sometimes I wonder if they really are as advanced as people think Yakumo
what's related to being advanced or not of having an oven or not? the japanese and modified kitchen is so huge, but just not that oven centric
What I meant to say is that the Japanese are so behind in may things that west have taken for granted for years on end. I'm going off topic though so I'll leave it at that
yeah..i knew what you meant and i give you right as well. but just watch it vice versa once. it's not that different
A new Wallace and Gromit?! Also, Goose is the tradition for Germany and Austria I believe, as a side note. Christmas pudding is a similar recipe to Christmas Cake but looser, unless you go for the suet kind. BTW, my Christmas Cake went down a storm. I shall post a picture of it tomorrow. I even did the royal icing.
Christmas cake on Xmas eve (of course). Christmas night I had a Tendon/Udon set from Tenya. This was of course after a day of work. I don't think it's a question of being advanced, just an issue of completely and utterly missing the fucking boat. For anyone that disagrees with me: "insulation". I dare anyone to even attempt a comeback. What is this? Bread with Spam in it?
Hi! Here over in Belgium we he had the full traditional english christmas dinner this year A huge turkey with all the belonging things, christmas crackers also. Great Stuff!! :icon_bigg couldn't possibly imagine christmas without turkey. Xyus
