Just got done giving it a test spin. Not bad, but since I spend 98% of my time playing games on XBOX live it pretty much feels like Modern Warfare 1 with some new downloadable maps and a few add-ons. I'm sure the campaign mode is probably pretty good, but I just don't get much out of playing against AI. Seems that for games like this they could have had a multiplayer package only to buy over XBL and I would have been happy with it.
and not very good. achievements are the only reason to play the campaign. multiplayer is fun for a while. until you realize it's just a lot of shooting people that don't see you, getting killed from who knows where, shooting people in the back, and getting killed by helicopters and planes as soon as you respawn.
I played the first couple of missions to remind myself of the controls. I do remember the first one as having a good campaign that I played until the end, something that's a bit rare for me with shooters (never finished any of the Halo games but have played online for years), so I'll give it a shot. I remember the end scene where you have to shoot the bad guy when you were dazed....pretty cool...heh. Yeah, sometimes the online play can be a bit tedious if you get into a string of quick deaths. It's not uncommon to respawn a few times only to get shot in the back or stabbed from someone you had no chance of seeing. And on the flip side you can sometimes get kills against people that really have no shot at defending themselves. I remember one game I went something like 14-2 and the next game I went something like 2-12. I'm not that good and I'm not that bad...it was just all kind of random. And GOD do I hate snipers....
I thought MW2's campaign was not near as strong as the first game. I felt the first games campaign while improbable as it may be did at least have a sense of possibility to it. MW2's on the other hand went from improbable to Hollywood cliché.
Just like Battlefield 2... This is why I get very bored with these types of shooters. I think CS and Quake are my favorites mainly because of balance and simplicity.
+ 1 ...Just make sure you play it as it's meant to be played, on Veteran, anything less is for pussies.
MW1 was better in every sense compared to MW2. Better campaign, better online maps and weapons are balanced better (grenade launches in mw2 are tooo powerful)
Yeah, you gotta do the campaign on Veteran otherwise you could finish the game in less than 6 hours easy I would think. I only played it once on Veteran just for the achievements. It was all just stuff I'd seen before in the campaign. I never understood how people got into the Modern Warfare campaigns. Like knowing all the characters and who you're playing as. I never had any idea who I was playing as because as soon as a level was done loading, I would just skip all the talking. None of it interested me... Yeah, this is why I prefer games where it takes more than one body shot to kill you. It takes a lot more skill to shoot someone perfectly in Halo 3 than random spraying in CoD. I'd watch the killcam and be stunned at how people would kill me. "Really? That kind of shooting killed me?" People on there were just all over the place with their bad aiming but would eventually get the reticule lined up for a split second and it'd kill me.
But atleast that's realistic. I mean chances are if you spray automatic fire at someone maybe 15 yards at most away from you, after awhile you are bound to kill them by the law of "shit happens". I think the CoD Campaign is lame. And on Veteran it's just even more lame. Multiplayer is all that matters in CoD anyway. Though Special Ops was nice and is a good challenge on Veteran.
I agree that the single player campaign is way to short. It's a joke - just 6 hours to play. I don't play online often so that's a game i will trade soon.
"Oh but it's realistic" is both the most common and least convincing justification for poor gameplay. I'll take non-realistic and fun over realistic and tedious/frustrating any day of the week. (That said I wouldn't be playing this game either way; it's all about the online and I just don't care about that.)
lol, CoD is not realistic though. it claims to be, but it has the same sort of shield/health regen as Halo. Just a lot less health and shields. i don't think there are any "realistic" first person shooters. they're still very much just games.
Counterstrike is pretty realistic as those types of games go. More so than most, at least. I will probably get COD MW2 soon, but on the PC. I can't imagine playing it on a joypad.
I wonder how that new medal of honor is going to turn out. I do enjoy MW2 alot more than the first The storyline is the perfect balance between realistic and goofy action movie to be enjoyable. The First one didn't really get all action movie until the end. Keep in mind though they made this one with Consoles in mind.
I loved the campaign.. If you play it on Veteran, it takes about 10 hours and then it's a challenge at least.
