Personally, I don't know why everyone is giving it such great reviews. Sure, it looks pretty and has some more modern guns, but it is pretty much a middle eastern version of CoD2 with better guns. Hell, the demo wasn't even all that impressive.
See, heres the thing I don't get... All these games keep getting ridiculously high reviews, to the point Bioshock and stuff have better scores then Zelda 64 and games like those. I'm not going to say any of the games suck, but I am going to say I don't see Bioshock or Cod4 having a lasting appeal like Zelda. Zelda 64 your still going to go back and play sometimes, can you really imagine saying to yourself, shit, I'm going to replay CoD4 or something? If CoD5 comes out doesn't the old ones turn to crap? I just don't think games should get past 9's and stuff if they have no long term appeal, and only short term. Halo however, sort of worked the same way. 3 has pretty much replaced 2, however, 3 and 2 can't replace 1. 1 is a game you can still go back and play, and with 3, it's not like a Halo 4 is going to come out and replace it every year, if that makes sense.
Just started COD4 this morning *jaw drops* ...stunning, as per COD, COD2 and COD3...a big gamble for Infinity Ward but my god they've pulled it off, again!
After you play the level "Shock and Awe" you'll be quite surprised at what happens. My jaw dropped. Even if the game only gives you 5-6 hours of SP few games can match the quality of that gameplay regardless of how long they are. Middle East levels are few, mostly takes place in Russia and surrounding areas
