Codename: Rebug - Convert retail PS3 to Test/Debug

This aim of this project is to turn a retail PlayStation 3 console into a Test unit. The update installs via the XMB without the need for a Jailbroken system :dance: There seems to be a couple of bugs, but it is a beta release at the moment.

So you should be able to use this along with the ooPo toolchain or PSL1GHT and have a full PS3 homebrew devkit eventually.

 

Wait let me get this straight. You can install this without having a Jail broken PS3, and it becomes like a PS Test Unit? I went to the site, but didn't see any information on how to install it though there is a Download available on the site . . .

I'll be keeping tabs on this, though I don't think I'll be doing this to my PS3 Slim anytime soon.

How close to a real debug is this?
What does not work, what will never and what will eventually?

 

So I'd be able to play games that require a PS3 TEST if I use this on a retail?
(I'm a total noob when it comes to PS)

Its real, it adds some of the debug functions, but does not give you everything, yet.

 

Let me know if it works, and also post the model of your PS3, I have a sneaking suspicion that this will only work on certain PS3 models.

while cool project, wouldn't it with all tools and info released now be possible to just take the debug firmware, resign it for retail consoles (maybe remove any checks for test kit if any) and install?

 

That sounds plausiable like it would work
