    Hi everyone!
I'm sure there are quite a few people on here that have run into the same issue, you're out hunting for games and you find some that you honestly can't remember if you already own. I've had this happen quite a bit lately as I have a huge pile of games that I haven't sorted into my collection yet and as a result ended up with a few doubles :/

My question to you fellow members is this!
What are some popular online websites that I can upload my collection too? Preferably free??

I also want to add this info to my site, like have a "my collection" page, which is why I'm looking for online so I can use a basic iFrame or something like that...

Anyway suggestions please, also state if you have used the service yourself.

    thanks heaps everyone

I use both Colexions.com and Collectedit.com, but they're both not very good. I'm trying to find a good site that has a companion app for IOS so that I can access it easily on the go, and have an easy way to upload photos immediately.

EDIT: I just found an app that's backed up by GaintBomb's huge database, it's called Game Vault on the IOS app store.

I just use an excel spreadsheet that I have on my Dropbox account.
It's the easier way to keep the collection database updated and you can make the spreadsheet the way you want.

I would do this, but I want to put my own photos with each item. Doing that in a spreadsheet doesn't look so great.

That's true. It won't be a good thing. Maybe you could create a separete folder for your photos?
When you are in the street you need to know which game you already own.
When you are at home you can have a more information and you will also have more time to check everything.

Well I'd like a place that people can go to simultaneously admire my various collections, as well as see my wishlist of stuff I need.

Okay, maybe you're not getting my point. I mean that from a visual standpoint it looks like complete and utter shit.

Why do you want it so pretty exactly? The main purpose is to keep track of your collection.

So that when other people ask what my hobby is, I can tell them that I collect videogames and not have them stare at a shitty spreadsheet. Am I not allowed to have things look nice?

Have you thought about creating a photo album on your phone so that you can show people your collection more easily?
I know that you said that you only want one place for people to visit but maybe you can also create a photo album on some website like Imgur and put a link to it on your spreadsheet.

I've been using a Google Sheet for them. Easily can pop it up on my phone so I know which games I have and ones I specifically want.

The problem with those sites is that they rarely have some obscure games, mostly the japanese exclusives.

Thanks for the site, this is great!

That's okay with me, I intend to add my own photos anyway.

Yeah, the Dream Collection app I use only has US releases, and it lists them...oddly.

Alright, alright, keep your thong on mate. Usually if people ask what my hobby is, showing them a few photos of my collection or setup is good enough. What it really depends is, what purpose do you want in the database? I have 3 columns, bought for, value, and what I could sell them for. If you simply want it to list/track what you own then any option would work.

Most of those collection sites are bad for any obscure games, consoles or items. Find what suited to you. A spreadsheet for me works, it's not to look pretty or make girl's panties drop. Mainly if I ever hit my head and loose my memory, I'd at least remember the value of things - also if I happen to disappear or explode a family member can go through the list and not unprice or overprice everything.

I've noticed that people use to browse your played games/achievements on xbox more than look at anything regarding your collection... Think about anyone really interested in looking collections with a thousand games or more...

I use Excel btw. One for the main stuff with ordinal number, date, price, shipping, description, console, region, condition, store and I don't remember what more is there. Thing is getting huge and I've added A/V equipment and even some PC stuff that I like. It looks like more a record of spending in the hobby than a "game collection" record.

Of course more files are needed for each console. This way the "games" are better organized.
Older consoles are easier, but xbox and wii for example I need a separate list for disc and digital. And for xbox I need some track of achievements based on dashboard.
About including japanese or european games I've done just for Saturn and N64 yet. Started for Gamecube but stopped. It's really time consuming when you want information like release date, number of players, publisher, developer, etc. Need to check one by one to make sure is right. About the new consoles I don't even know when I'll start... Of course in a website you have almost everything ready, but the file in your computer is instantly ready and you keep things exactly the way you want.

In Excel you can at least organize something like an executive sumary, whatever... About pictures I don't know. I'll go neurotic about some kind of standard for all the pictures and that could be a disaster.

    It's complicated.
