Ι like Gamecube controller but for Super Smash Bros I prefer Wii Classic Controller (either the cheap, regular one or Pro). What's so fuss about playing SSB only with GC controller is something I will never understand. Just like why many people still prefer playing Melee instead of their superior sequels.

For any Wii U game I play, its always with the Gamepad. It fits my hands perfectly. The pro controller is ok its just a bit too small for my taste.

I think a lot of GC controller fans (including myself) like that controller because the way the face buttons are arranged is more sensible for us. The thumb moves more easily for folks like me from Specials/Smashes/jumping due to the size, shape, and placement of the GCN buttons; it's more of a straight or natural curve (depending on if you use Y or X to jump). Also, with the default button layout for Wii/U controllers, the jump button comes before the attack buttons. That's, like, the biggest no-no in control design. :p

I can kinda tolerate the Classic Controller/Pro since it at least has the octagonal "gates" on the analog sticks intact. I absolutely can't get along with the Gamepad or the WiiU Pro Controller because of the "free" analog sticks; it really can screw me over when I try doing Smash attacks since I don't have nearly as definitive a "feel" of which direction I'm holding either stick in. (I have a similar issue with Sm4sh on the 3DS, but there I've no choice otherwise.) Also, the switched up placement of the C-stick and face buttons on the Wii U controllers fucks me up good.

Because Melee is a far more balanced and technical game than its successors (especially Brawl, Jesus Christ that was an unbalanced travesty).

Because some insufferable spergs started taking Smash Bros way too seriously and play it in a way that sucks all the fun out of it. It's like if some people suddenly decided that Mario Kart should be taken as seriously as iRacing.

Oh no a game has the flexible design to be as much of a party game and/or as much of a competitive game to suit many individual preferences how fucking despicable for some people to have one preference and give the game a far longer lifespan than its designers could have ever anticipated. Why is it considered such a crime by people like you for gamers to make this one fucking game competitive, as opposed to other fighting games? I'm pretty sure they have fun playing it the way they do, and I'm double sure that it does absolutely fucking nothing to stop you from playing it the way you want. If anything, the way Sakurai deliberately made Brawl appeal only to the casual crowd is forcing people to "play it in a way that sucks all the fun out of it", because there's little that can be done to make it appeal to competitive players.

Oh, and loving the ableism, by the way. Charming.

Maybe it's because the "community" of Melee purists is full of entitled whiners who shit on everything Smash Bros. related if it's not their beloved Melee? Is it considered such a crime to want to play the sequels which have more characters and stages (oh wait, that doesn't matter when you only play one stage and a handful of characters)?

Maybe not me, but they sure as hell try to force other people to play the way they want. See: that 14-year-old at EVO who had to give up his prize thanks to Melee assholes.

I didn't hear about that, I did hear about the Melee idiots booing the Smash 4 tournament because it got in the way of their precious game (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...on_calls_for_unity_in_competitive_smash_scene).

I was at a Melee tournament on Saturday (and crashed out without winning a game), and it just feels stiff compared to the newer games, especially the 3DS version. The fact that I've been maining Pac-Man for the last 4 months doesn't help much, I admit.

I mostly main as Rosie, Samus, or Meta Knight and they dont appear to be stiff. Haven't played Brawl or Melee in a long time...

I thought Melee was stiff, not the 3DS. Rosalina and Meta Knight aren't even in it (MK might be a trophy, I'm not sure).

I was just verifying the stiffness thing. IIRC he isn't.
