Well that would depend, I mean Assembler Games is about unreleased and obscure hardware and software and as such Assembler isn't discouraging the posting of potentially illegal information and data. Where as in the case of illegal pornography the sites policy is obviously strictly against. Of course it'd all be situational.
Come on - it's like saying that because I don't have a sign saying 'NO CRIMES ON MY LAWN' in front of my house I will be liable for people commiting crimes there.
*remembers the time he e-mailed NOA customer service regarding a GDEV setup question way before joining AG*
Well, regardless of what you read, companies aren't dumb (at least if you take out the law department). From what I've heard from M, they know exactly what's going on in "the scene". Hello, M! They once pulled a link less than 10h or so after it was posted in the middle of a long (public) thread on x-s (the HD-DVD 10-2006 upgrade). That really impressed me.
Well ,let's see.. Some guys with an office-job are told to monitor this and that, and I doubt they would know the first thing about development kits, other than their legal status. As such, I doubt they d post or maliciously encourage any activity - this could be held against them later on.
I'm not meaning to get into an arguement here so sorry if I sound rude. Basically if someone was shot on your lawn..then yeah you wouldn't be liable but if you knowningly and willing let your friends setup drug deals on your lawn you could perhaps be considered liable knowing it and not stopping it.
I think it was probably the SX release that brought them here - either that or the photos of the HDD Wiis someone got. As long as vBulletin doesn't bugger up and your servers secure, we should be fine. I hope.
Every few weeks some forum members post about pirate PSP/PS2/Whatever game they just downloaded or want to get working on their latest set up etc. It's those kinds of people giving this forum a bad name IMO.
They would go for assembler first because: a) they can find out who he is easier. b) he should delete it, ban the user & inform the authorities. I'm sure assembler doesn't want to be charged with being an accessory to child porn distribution.
The HDD Wii's were shown in Public at Penny-Arcade Expo last August. Rockstar was showing off the wii version of Table Tennis, they had about 4 units. Just sitting there hooked up to LCD TV's. So I don't think it'd be the HDD Wii's. Nintendo was at Penny-Arcade Expo as well. Literally, right across from Rockstar. If they had problems with the public knowing aboout the HDD Wii's, I'm pretty sure they would have had Rockstar pull them. Graciano1337 got pictures, we'll upload them soon. Also the Green debug kit Wii was there. I think SX is probably what got their Attention.
I think they'd be more concerned about the fact that Dev software is quite a hot topic here. To that extent, i don't believe they'd complain and have us shut down, rather, they'd try to find out how it got into our hands in the first place...
Ah, yes. I completely forgot we're not supposed to have dev machines So you're right, it's probably just hunting trips to catch leaks.
Could it be because Assembler released Sega Xtreme prototype and Sega is checking the source? I wondered about that.
HDD Wiis? Are these the ones with the red faceplate on the front? I saw quite a few of them at E3 this year, though of course, that's not public...
What do you expect? Most game developers are game enthusiasts. Of course you do have plenty of them reading silently. For one person posting a "me too" there's fifty reading. Not all of them are there for law enforcement bureaucracy.
