I've mentioned Sega and SNK in the past as their own threads. But what companies do you feel jerk their fans around and seemingly ignore them. Nintendo comes to mind they might be the biggest offender their fans flock like sheep to everything they put out but yet the Mother/Earthbound fans get the finger everytime they ask for a localization of the remaining Mother games. Konami has made alot of Iffy decisions as well contary to what it's fan want. anyone else?
Nintendo have so many great IPs but just seem to bring us F*ing Mario shite all the time followed by gimmicky family crap. Or if not that then Wii ports of Game Cube games (that will run on a Wii anyway) with new Wii gimmick controls. Where are the following games? Star Fox Kid Icuras Donkey Kong (a real game, not some racing or music toss) Pilotwings F-Zero Kirby (Not my cup of tea but the games are normally decent) and so on. Yakumo
I think Nintendo cares more about non gamers than Gamers. Sadly that's where most of their money comes from. But then again Nintendo has a history of treating people like shit. Remember what 3rd parties had to go through in the 80s?
The only reason I don't hate that is they add 16:9/480p and Pro Logic and you can still use another controller I think. Plus some of those cost nearly as much as the releases.
I was very pissed to see that they didn't include original Bongo controls in the re-release of Jungle Beat for the Wii
Me too what a slap in the face! It's not like compatibility for that peripheral would've been that hard to add. Plus, peripherals are expensive! Freaking support them as much as you can jesus
fair enough but to be honest even if they are decent extras I'd rather have an all new Wii game that would be in 16:9/480p and Pro Logic. I remember in the days of the N64 in the UK. Months would go past without a single game worth bothering with. I can't comment on the Cube Scene though since I was far too much in to Dreamcast at that time. Yakumo
The Gamecube was, in many ways, just as disappointing as the N64. I remember it being the first system of that generation that I purchased, and at first it was pretty tits...Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart DD (I liked it), as well as Baten Kaitos, Zelda, etc. etc. I was hoping they'd make more use of the broadband adapter, but this is Nintendo we're talking about. Disappointments abound since the SNES days. I remember when the DS was first announced and at E3 they had a tech demo of a P2P voice application called DSpeak which featured 3D renders of popular Nintendo characters who's mouths and facial expressions would react to your voice. Seemed incredible and essentially sold me on the DS at that point. Now, three iterations of the DS later, and we've yet to see anything come even close to that. Such a shame.
How many Nintendo add ons have been annouced.......and never showed up? I don't like to support nintendo for pretty much all the reasons listed here. I have a DS and I love ouendan and New Super Mario Bros but there's really nothing on the DS that's really REALLY unique and WHAT does Nintendo do as soon as some unique add ons that use the GBA slot come out.....they REMOVE THE GBA SLOT. I don't know WHY people support nintendo like they do. My guess is nostolga. We can't argue most of our childhood memories as Gamers revolved around either an NES or SNES
Nintendo was the console to own in the 16bit days. The SFC was amazing yet the Japanese are still more fond of the Famicom. In the days of the Mega Drive and SFC there really was a lot for Nintendo to do in Europe but even back then they were pathetic with releases in PAL land while in Japan hundred and hundreds of SFC games were released. The Mega Drive ruled in the 16 bit days in Europe as did the Master System over the NES in the 8 bit days. Not sure about the US mind you. To me, Nintendo seem to be just riding on the cash made from selling the Wii and DS while they can without putting any effort in to the games for those systems. Another thing that gets me is the awful support for the Wii's online compatibility. In Japan pretty much every Dreamcast game had some sort of online function even if it was just a link to the companies homepage for info. Wii games almost never have online contents yet the machine is capable of so much goodness if Nintendo just pulled their finger out of their fat lazy arse. This won't happen though because all Nintendo (Japan at least) seem interested in is keeping the mums and kids happy while forgetting all about the people who made them in to the company they are today, gamers! Yakumo
There is a certain irony about that... Most games on the Famicom were bought by er kids... I think Nintendo realise that they will sell more games to the new adults (people who wouldn't have owned a console ever), kids and RPG players that like playing the same game again... and Nintendo dominate the software sales, out of the 28 million selling plus games in Japan only 6 aren't Nintendo, 4 Square Enix (Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy), 1 Bandai (Tamagothci) and 1 Sega (Love and Berry) and no non Nintendo game has sold over 1,000,000 on the Wii... If Nintendo did see "gamers" buying more games then maybe Nintendo might listen...
Can't really blame them though. They can coast the wave now and save the big guns for later. Business wise it's a smart strategy. Plus it gives them the time to make quality games instead of cranking them out before a holiday deadline and that's always good for us.
Almost all the games on Wii that impress me aren't even from Nintendo. Naturally they aren't even games that Nintendo fanbase would play Those being Madworld, No More Heroes, and The Conduit. Of course Punch Out's return has me kinda excited not just that it's back but it's going to it's 8 bit roots and plays kinda like mo cap boxing and that other boxing game sega put out years ago with the levers. But there just isn't any room in my entertainment center for a Wii. The Virtual Console is a huge SO WHAT since I can download the games free as they were (Nintendo seems to edit VC games for whatever reason) or I'd rather own and play the carts, Wiiware however... that's a selling point.
On the other side of the coin the DS is rather well supported for online support, i have a hell of a lot of games that use the online WFC, newest been made in ore that has a lot of online content. Must admit though most of the online functions of the wii so far are rather lacking to say the least.
Another step back for Nintendo.....region locking in the DSI... What if Ouendan 3 comes out and requires the camera or other DSI Feature.....oops gotta plunk down for a Japanese AND US DSI now....... How about Nintendo ignoring MP3 the SINGLE MOST POPULAR AUDIO FORMAT ON EARTH in favor of the unpopular AAC...
OH that......actually makes sense then I hope that's accurate... Though I'm in no rush to get a DSI, since my DS Lite hardly gets any love as it is. ( I GOTTA GET CHRONO........)
the main percentage sega and nintendo fanbase of the old days is gone.. nostalgia is our only friend.
