You are the one who mentioned PSYBIOS.

PSYBIOS is for Psy-Q - the clue is in the name. CartDev is NOT PsyQ.

What you are saying is similar to saying "I've installed the control software for the Razr mouse but it doesn't pick up my Wacom graphics tablet! Why is that?" It's because the software wasn't made to interface with that device.

The advice given on the linked topic by segaloco was find the DTS CD. That is the correct advice. My advice on the thread was to follow the links posted by Druid II - also correct, as the libraries posted on that link will work. At no point did anyone say use PSYBIOS.

Read the manual for the CartDev, and do what it tells you.

Jackhead, not to derail, but I see you have a Beyerdynamic T70. Those are good cans ;) I used to have the T70, DT770, DT880, DT990, and T5p. I currently own the T1.

Oh retro you have taken your crystal ball and read my thoughts through the Internet wow !.. but you miss the point.

Indeed, I make a mistake between Psy-Q and Cartdev software but it's not for the reasons given in your crapy analogy straight out from a condescending I.T.

actually, I saw some similarities between Saturn's psy-q and Sony DOS based dev framework used for the PSX. Same executables (CPE), same ways to sending program to target and, same TSR (psybios / dexbios) to drive the hardware. These similarities open to misinterpretation.

Now, thanks to Jackhead who helped me instead of giving me a lesson... :suspicion:

I need to know how to check the connexion between cartdev and Saturn. HSITOOL has some diags commands like "satstatus", "status", or "loopback" but it returns nothing or a "buffer not ready" error.

Did I need some additional hardware ? Like buffer board ? I have a cartdev with no buffer board (without simm) and as far I know, buffer board is not needed to run the system. Plus, I use a modified retail Saturn with added NMI cable on CN12 connector.

what I should see on Saturn's boot screen when it connected with cartdev ?
There is a way to test the connexion between cartdev and Saturn ?

EDIT : I notice there is a missing CMS cap (C1) on the front upper left of my buffer board. Jackhead can you take a pic with a closer view of the front of the buffer board (model without simm) ?

Have you read the manual yet? It tells you how to connect the hardware and connect to it. Are you using the right SCSI card? Are you using the right SCSI port? And it sounds like you're STILL not using the right software.

    If you haven't, RTFM ;)

As you've read my posts before, you KNOW that Antime's copy of the DTS site's contents has all the manuals, so get it from there.

    http://koti.kapsi.fi/~antime/sega/files/CART-08-030195.pdf

The problem is that you keep asking us questions that we've answered. Jackhead told you to use CONFTOOL, you say you're having no luck with HSITOOL. I tell you it's not a Psy-Q, you use PSYBIOS and wonder why it doesn't work.

I'm well aware there's a language barrier between us, but I'm trying to help you and you ignore (or possibly misunderstand) what I say. Like I said, you misunderstood that previous post, too. And of course, as always, I admire you for actually having a technical conversation in a second language in the first place - many of us wouldn't manage that!

The first thing you should do whenever you get something you don't know how to use is RTFM - READ THE FUCKING MANUAL!

I did a Google search for "Saturn CartDev manual" and it came up with Antime's site, so it's something you should already have, even if it didn't come with the unit.

Once you've read the manual, you'll hopefully be able to set it up correctly and use the right tools. After that, if you still have problems, feel free to ask.

It came on the CD. You don't need a Tarball.
