Do you mean something like this - http://www.kenable.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1455

I didn't know about that before, would the quality be noticeable better than just using an RGB scart?

Nope. At best it'd be identical. Since you're transcoding a signal there will be some degradation.

Those adapters are for devices than can output component over scart output. This option can mostly be enabled from the settings menu of the device (sattelite receivers, set top boxes etc.) so they are not converters like JS Technology's ones.

Gamecube has no options like that. I tested component cable in 15khz (480i) mode which is nearly identical to the rgb scart cable, of course 480p mode is better but doesn't worth it TBH. I modded my component cable to VGA one, so I can play both modes on my Panasonic plasma monitor. Component cable is a really well made product IMO, so it doesn't have the regular disadvantages of a scart cable. Those third party cables suck BTW, just better than nothing...

Softmod Wii and Component cable is the easiest way to do it, the number of games you can't play on GC mode on the Wii can be counted on one hand. The softmod allows you to change the region, which changes the GC region and it takes about a minute to do. Just label your GC memory cards so you don't lose data by have an incompatible game save slot in the system.

For roughly the cost of the GC component cable you can get a Wii and a component cable. Unless you want to play Phantasy Star Online or have a Gamecube fetish there is very little reason to have a GC.

I don't think that piece can produce h&v sync for vga...
for the vga mod you have to open the connector add a resistor and tap 2 wires for sync signals...
I can do that for you for $10 +shipping...

So did they managed a way to control the wii interface using the game cube controller or boot the wii into game cube mode to avoid first using the wii remote to boot a game and then be able to use the game cube?

It would be awesome because as far as I know the wii and the gamecube have the same hardware (GC side) and we could still enjoy HD loading via some loader.

EDIT: Just googled for Dios Mios that can load gamecube games via usb and preloader that let it autoboot, so yeah, the wii is the easiest way to enjoy gamecube via rgb with it's full library.
