Environmental violations are present in Greece more than other EU countries actually. I did find a biohazardous little lake on top of a hill where it was supposively "forest area" - the waste from the oil refinery near Corinth. I ve also got pictures for the non-believer and sarcastic mr.Taucias The place smelled like olive-oil, rubber, and tar at the same time. Very nasty.
No, I was kidding. I know Greece has a terrible environmental record and in fact they have been fined for nearly 1 billion Euros to date I believe. In Crete there is a rubbish dump right next to the river and it leeches into it whenever there is a storm. The Greek government were supposed to have cleaned it up years ago, but something tells me it is still there causing problems. Also the stuff floating in the sea around Xania sometimes was disgusting. I think the sewage just flows out into the sea around there.
