You can recover between versions all you want, there is a difference between recovering and just flashing a dump.
I flashed back to my base kernel from a higher recovery it has given me no problems in the past. The question is if you recover to say 8xxx kernel on a beta kit by user error is it then not restore-able by re-flashing?
If you bought the one in the middle, I hope you payed <$100 for it. I probably wouldn't have gone past $50.
Doom if you need a free disc drive for that kit let me know man, also what mobo is it? I can provide you a case aswell.
so with the r6t3 removed and a backup of the nand in hand, it is hypothetically "safe" to take one of these consumer waste devs on PN?
what is the proper power supply to use with these systems? i have several power supplies and only the 203w ( i think ) works the one with the buttons on the side you have to squeeze to remove the plug from the system. i have 4 kits and so far i only have a power supply thatll work with one.
Get a power supply designed for a Xenon Sidecar unit, that should power up everything. Offica1 g33k: Some people have found that even those conditions allow for a brick to occur, while others feel that with the r6t3 removed MS can't brick you. It's dependent upon how exactly the bricking occurs, which we can't conclusively state yet. Being that these units are cheaper though, it may not be as much of a loss if you were to try one though.
Well, another update on mine. I took it apart and discovered that it's no Opus (and damn that sticker for leading me on ). The motherboard revision is X803600-009, and from what I've read on here that means it's a prototype final devkit. The DVD drive is an earlier Hitatchi-LG 3120L from August 2005. Since this is pre-release, I'm guessing that there's some sort of roof on flash updates. :/ Any information on this revision would be much appreciated, Eviltaco64
If I remember right, your board may be close enough to final to not have flash limits. It's definitely no Beta 1 or Beta 2, so it should be fine. What flash is it currently on? In any event, if you put a recovery disk in it newer than it can handle, the software will warn you of such and stop the operation. There may be some on taobao, or some around the marketplace here. Other than that, there is a way to rig a PC power supply to power 360s.
I have yet to test it, actually. I'm still waiting for a PSU to come in (which should hopefully be arriving tomorrow). For those interested, here's some pictures of the inside. Note the poorly soldered LEDs that are mounted by hardened molding clay: http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/2099/img0178jp.jpg (the motherboard) http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4796/img0179u.jpg (closeup of the motherboard) http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/3207/img0183ol.jpg (mobo revision number)
The Chinese Really Do Take Pride in there work, It looks so cheap and you could almost consider it a fire hazard :clap::clap: :dance::dance: :lol::lol:
