aside from PC Engine 6 button pads and newer arcade sticks it appears controller collecting is the cheapest thing to do in gaming right now. Since I got a Raspberry PI 3 on the way and I have or will have converters for EVERYTHING. I figured it's time to go nuts with controllers. WIth this place being this place, I'd like to see some obscure shit some of you have.
PS1 Glove (also N64 version) One of the only good glove controllers made and one of the only ones I'm actually mad wont work with the game I want it to work with. The fight stick there is from Nyko. Theres a Saturn version too. The one thing I found with it is that the dial with the 4 coloured buttons spins around, and when placed as shown in the picture it's weirdly good for speedrunning some 2D games (assuming you can change controls in-game) Please ignore the pepsi
I've seen tons of versions of that stick floating around on Amazon, but to get all the good shit, I think I'm going to have to hit up Ebay.
*insert photo of RE4 GameCube chainsaw controller here* I'd take a photo of mine, but I really can't be bothered.
But do you have this? I'm not sure if I want that in my collection....I kind of do...kind of don't The RE4 Chainsaw I want and forgot I want.
I used to have the Mega Man X Gamecube controller, I gave it to a friend. I don't think that little furry knows what I gave him..... I'm going to have to track one of these down now. They're up there in price but not attainably high.
A friend of mine owns a retro video game store and he showed me a boxed version of that controller. He sold it the other day though.
Mine's got the box too, but it's not in the best shape. I just wish it made sounds like the PS2 version does...
I got excited about this thread and then realized we're talking about retail controllers... *yawn* haha. jk As DeChief mentioned, the GameCube chainsaw is pretty cool.
This is the first I've heard of Pepsi Next. Here, we only have three types of Pepsi: regular old Pepsi, Pepsi Strong Shots, and Pepsi Nex.
No love for the Densha De Go! controller around here? A surprisingly simple game (well, the PS1 version was, and the DC version is much the same) there are guides/translations online. It's one of those games where you really do need the special controller, and very addictive. Certainly recommended for anyone who enjoys Tokyo Bus Guide Here's a snap of the PS1 controller which I still have, many house moves later... http://www.genkivideogames.com/images/TCPP20001front.jpg I used to own the more elaborate Dreamcast variant but, in the end, I think the older PS1 design is actually better. Talking of strange controllers - isn't there the now insanely expensive 'walking contraption' for a Japanese Gamecube game that had you traveling from one temple to another, actually I'm not sure what it was? The crown for the most elaborate/wtf? controller has to go to Steel Battalion for the original XBOX - The only controller around that looks harder to figure out than an airplane cockpit terminal.
I have a Hori Minipad 64. I definitely prefer it over the official N64 controller, though it's rather useless for games that require the d-pad (which is not many). I have a Japanese Virtua Gun; it looks pretty cool and it feels like Sega's arcade guns. I have a Victor MD controller that came with the Wondermega. I have a boxed Japanese flight stick for PS1.
I need to get a Hori Mini Pad while I still can. Once I get my Framemiester I'm going to spend a lot more time with my N64 and I'll need a good controller for it.
