I'll see if the guys on a modding site can make something. They can rgh a retail or turn it to a basic dev console . most tools to recover stuff are trail versions. I would love to know if I paid for the full version , I could see what iv extracted from the HDD ?
Has anyone tryed easyus . They say it works on the 360, but you will have to buy it to find out ? There's a video on YouTube.
I found a guy on se7sins that made a program to recover deleted builds . It works. He needs to make it a bit better. You can not recover folders only files. So you need to make a folder with the same name then recover every file one at a time. So happy I found it. I'll share it tomorrow. You only get 7 days to use it then its locked until you buy it. Its only 30 usd .
Do you mean FATXplorer? That program sucks. It didn't detect a single build for me out of more than 10-15 builds on 4 kits. It sometimes works for some people but only in rare cases and it takes a lot of time to recover data file by file.
Hi, I'd be curious to hear more about this scenario. It might not have detected the files correctly because FATXplorer has to do a bit of magic to reconstruct the file names since deleting them changes the metadata. FATXplorer validates file name like the console does - other tools may have different implementations that allow more mangled file names to show up. I did my best to make a general solution for the average user, but there are cases where going in manually is required to take a look at deleted items. I generally don't recommend people try to recover large files. The reason behind that is because of fragmentation. Just one small bit of that and a file is corrupt. For example, over the years I've had several people ask me to help recover Skyrim saves. Those are usually large, old files that end up being scattered in various clusters throughout the disk. Because of that, recovery is not possible. I'm really curious how many people actually recover full games off their disks. Were they actually playable? You might just a have a bunch of files intertwined with garbage data. Just because it all copied out successfully doesn't mean what you got is 100% valid. Also, the reason FATXplorer only supports recovering one file at a time is to encourage the use of its corruption detection features. That way, you can decide if it's worth it to copy it out. I agree there's better ways this can be handled, such as a report at the end of the copying, but because the chances of recovering files is so low, there isn't much encouragement to develop that feature further. We'll see for v3 though...
I recovered 5 working crysis 3 games off too devkit console. I found some of the .pak files had corrupted. The thing that got me was recovering one file at a time. Can you not make it recover a folder and its content. This would be better as it only shows 256 or 265 max files in a folder and i know there was loads more. This recovery is better than nothing and i hope to see it grow and get better in the future. Thanks.. This is the first game i recovered + saved. https://assemblergames.com/threads/easy-tool-to-recover-deleted-xbox-360-games.68738/#post-966471
I have no idea how your program works but there's definitely a lot of room for improvement. I'm developing my own recovery software and I'm getting a lot better results. I managed to recover more than 10 Crysis builds from a single kit once and I've recovered 40 - 50 working builds in total out of 8 hdd images so far. I can even recover big files without any problems. I recovered RAR with ISO inside, almost 4GB, worked fine, whereas FATXplorer didn't even detect the file. My testers got same results. FATXplorer is skipping A LOT of data
I told him the same thing! Unfortunately it just takes time to do all that he said but he would be filthy rich if he got a program out and sold it for five bucks
Are you referring to files that have been deleted? As in, file name length set to 0xE5 and allocation chain wiped. PS: If any staff are watching, notification emails for this site end up in Gmail spam..
I've been going through a hdd and theres lots of games. They do not have the E5 to say there deleted and they do not show in FATXplorer . I was looking at ones that do show up in your program and they have the E5 before them. Do you think i can add the E5 to the ones that do not show up in HXD then save it and try your program to see if it show them. I can see 2 need for speeds, 4 saboteur and a frost game. Some of the file of the ones above i saw in the image in HXD: https://mega.nz/#!7xUmGYAD!I9eTvD5G0ZuOi2OBj2O3FLpmTI6OkhWjsdC3Am5iJ7A
Awesome. I absolutely love it when People get together and collaborate ideas of making something better together it shows that there is good people in the community
The issue is that the files were lost because of a reformat, not deletion. FATXplorer doesn't show them because it only follows the currently directory structure. It doesn't attempt to locate lost/abandoned files like that, but it's something I will look into adding for the next update.
Iv found a easy way of getting the builds back by editting the image in a hex editor. Tut coming , just making sure it works on other hdd and need to see if i can play the games.. Its very easy to do . The hardest part is finding the folder for the game. Heres the games that was lost in the image: https://gyazo.com/c5956f2b9bdd5d299b187a1b20043653 Iv not recovered it yet as i need to mark all the files as deleted or not mark the folder as not deleted . Still testing...
Run your hdd through fatXplorer or party buffalo and see whats in the devkit folder. Make a note of all the stuff. https://gyazo.com/59d8a53fc1af983e7c1a40764319d2d2 Make a backup of the hdd with fatXplorer. Now search the backup image in HXD editor for one of the names of a game that you made a note of. When you find it make sure all the other stuff you made a note of are in the text. You have found the working devkit folder... This is the working devkit folder on the hdd that i will copy and past the other deleted games in. https://gyazo.com/1d7997bd9cfeac80cdbbfb70dbca9c34 Now im going to search back from the devkit folder to find another devkit folder with different games in. You can also search forwards.. Its hard to know what name to search, this is a crytek Hdd so i can search _XBOX360. You should search 64 6D 65 78 74 FF FF FF FF Hex-value as it should be before the games. https://gyazo.com/a87383ffe5cb29ce1bc2b7a165fa4bee Here is a different folder with games in, fatxplorer and party buffalo do not show this folder. Im going to copy games from here and past them in the working devkit folder. https://gyazo.com/d50e66db9ae067faa7a27247e2a40dbd Im going to copy the hex of these games . https://gyazo.com/7e81b7d9e7f99d548b394911f43b6328 Now going to past them in the working folder here. https://gyazo.com/9e5551e71fcd2691b6fdc3003feb4833 Pasted them in. https://gyazo.com/65c32d72763ffb758235c93987230940 Then file, save as ??????. Put .bin after its name. This will make another image.bin. Make sure you have the space. https://gyazo.com/08ea54a63cd2d825bdc1c4f39a5bed74 Now open the new image.bin in fatxplorer or party buffalo and see what you have..... If the games are to far gone it will show corrupted files with strange names. Few hours later (after saving) i have new builds.. https://gyazo.com/5ea6bf6757616d2328c27b3fab75de63 https://gyazo.com/2b39faf10a900227deb6f2e361bd3e92 Iv recovered 10 extra cry3 games off one HDD , with the above method. THINGS IV FOUND OUT: If you have a 120gb hard drive and want to go straight to the working devkit folder in hex editor goto edit ,select blocks and put this in both boxes 2B26F3146 and select OK. Party buffalo likes giving errors and gives up showing anything..
