Thanks, it'll only be 59p/$1. $500 isn't bad seeing as it's unlimited use so I can carry on making new games, the fee goes up of course if you sell more than $50k worth but how they would know this is beyond me.

Nobody have suggestions for a name?

I'd also like to know how I'd go about contacting a music label to find out about using one track for the opening animation. Anyone know how this process works, will it cost me or are some bands/artist happy to have free promotion?

If I don't go down the commercial route I'm considering snooping around the Newgrounds audio portal, see if someone wants to contribute.

Last resort is my own Guitar and Garageband

Forget anyone signed to a major, obviously. Netlabels are normally happy to provide a free licence if you credit them, though some might suffer from delusions of grandeur. Alternatively, head over to OCRemix or similar and post up what you're after (expect cheese trance).

Depending on what kind of thing you're after I might be able to nod you in the direction of something freely distributable.

If it's breaks you're after take a look through http://www.dubstepforum.com. I don't post there myself but I know a mate used to regularly post music for feedback there. I imagine there are plenty of folk there who'd welcome some free publicity.

Totally out of the blue my parents bought me a brand new Macbook last night.

This has made my dev life so much easier. I'm gonna be working like a japanese prisoner of war this week...but a happy one.

I see major copyright issues with the whole 'we dropped standard CS maps into a Unity format and bundled them up for sale', and you know the whole 'counter strike for iphone' name

what happened to developing original ideas? make a new game!

Counter Strike for iPhone is not what it will be called. It was just to get some attention.

The maps are homebrew maps provided by their authors with permission, the textures are all custom... I have made sure of it. And it's a little more complicated than bundling them up and reselling them.

Original or not, I can make what I want to, it hasn't been done before for the iPhone.

I do not have the time to completely start a new game idea from scratch especially seeing as I have a business to run, this was just a nice side project to do something a little different. It'll cost me $500 to license the game which is a huge outlay for something that might not sell. I'd rather spend it on something I personally would like to play and something that may recuperate some of that money, rather than risking it on something totally new which might fail fantastically.

Throw all of the "original games rule! down with EA's corporate bullshit!" at me if you like but when you're on your own it's hard not to churn out a crowd pleaser to avoid the risk of bankruptcy.

I for one would just like to make and publish a game, any game for iOS. It adds to my portfolio.

Never, it's disgusting to ruin other's games. Cause you want a laugh.

Some people are so inconsiderate. :banghead:

It's always surprising to me how blasé people can be about cheating. Even if it was back when you were a teenager, at least have the decency to acknowledge that it's shamefully selfish behaviour, for fuck's sake.

It also creates issues for us honest players too. I remember once playing CS:S on a custom map. It was with a server I'd been with for a year or two and I'd made some good friends on there.

Anyway was just running around being average as usual, fired off 3 rounds with a Deagle and each one connected with a headshot. About a second later I was dead and the amount of people who claimed it was hacking overruled my defence and I got kicked for a month.

Back on topic, I know a few months have passed by but I've done fuck all with this game of late, just don't have the time, almost forgot the code existed until derekb sprung out his magic flaming keyboard.

I've got an updated Advanced Unity programming book turning up hopefully tomorrow (it's been 6 months preordered and delayed 5 times...thanks amazon) and an iPhone 4 turning up on wednesday, so once I've cleared my back log of work then I'll have a bash at getting the game going again.

I get that too, just cause you get a good chain of headshots you are instantly a cheater. Then you get banned or kicked for being legit. Now you can't tell who is cheating really anymore, with all these toggles and what not. Also VAC being completely useless.

I now play a Counter-Strike clone called Project Blackout by SG Interactive, should check it out to get an idea on how much you can clone Counter-Strike. I get called a cheater more on that than Counter-Strike, but I don't get banned for being legit, as it's controlled by the developers.

Good luck with your project mate, be sure I'll check it out when you get to the gameplay stages.:)

I think the worst is when you play on a server or a long time and start to know regulars then come to find out that someone youve played with for ages was actually cheating and theres proof, very sad
