Well it would be sweet if it becomes a reality so no EPROMs need to be erased and hacked and reprogrammed. It would save the trouble of hacking and the possibility of errors being induced.
Two new games decrypted: Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers Revenge (Japan 950302) Vampire Savior (Japan 970519) Vampire Savior was also patched to remove the annoying sound test timer completely.
have you tried using the FBAnext emulator on the PS3 ? bit off topic, but it runs CPS2 Roms and CPS3 pretty awesomely, and with my PS3 hooked into my Naomi DX 50" tis a SF 3Rd Strike Fest for me and never need to worry that my CPS3 will die
pretty sure someone who goes to the effort to create hacked and decrypted romsets to use on his suicided cps2 boards is aware of emulation
I seem to remember that Vampire Savior has high value sound codes that allows the tunes to be played without stopping... Going to hack VH2 and VS2?
If someone drop me suicided boards with these games MASK ROMs I might. I did VSAVIOR JPN because it's different than the one Razoola did. And I hacked the sound test, because I don't have an jukebox program to add in it (nor I want one). Also I was not aware of the sound codes having mirrored values. But hacking the sound test was fun
Bootlegging is "unethical" and 27C322 EPROMS costs way too much for this kind of use. An CPS2 will take 10 27C322, 8 27C4096 and 2 27C1001 chips on maximum memory configuration. That's about 100 USD in EPROMs if you buy them new...
Yes, that's why I took the trouble of including the MAME window borders on the screenshots.
The boards are not that expensive, just a pity postage to you would cost many times what the board cost. That's good. From the CPS2 boards I owned, I remember the sound test was either 1 - Complete and allowed you to play the tunes fine (Zero 3 was a nice one). 2 - Would cut the song off, but I noticed that there were higher sound code numbers which would play the song outright 3 - Would cut the song off, but there was a silent sound which if played when the tune was playing it would allow the song to be play continously (although you needed a rapid fire circuit to do this.....)
The "vsav2d" set in Mame is a bad dump. Rom 05 and 08 should not be altered at all. (Use the roms from the original the "vsav2" set) Rom 03 & 04 does also contain a few errors. But once the data is decrypted it's easy to spot the bad bits and correct them. When it's done the game will pass the rom test. "vhunt2d" is also a bad dump. But that one is easy to fix. There is an error in the Mame driver: Rom "vh2j_d.06" should be replaced with "vh2j.07". (vh2j.06 are already included in the driver).
Who on the US does the phoenix job? because last month my marvel vs capcom dies because I forgot to change the battery on time and now I have a dead board. I want to know who does the job I dont have the phoenix roms and the programer. I want the board alive again.
