Files ? I don't think anyone will run 3DS Max or something like this on such laptop, so i think it will be about office documents and it won't be a problem - in most cases LibreOffice etc can open MS Office files without problems, also running MS Office in wine isn't much of a problem too, but looking at condition of keyboard i think best idea will be to do just put it where it belongs - a garbage dump. For Sony - well, they went downhill in early 2000s - i still have 14" Sony CRT TV that was new when i got the newest console - SNES and it still shows a good picture (PSU part was recapped but it worked anyway, except some very minor issues). Same for two PVMs and various radio stuff, but VAIO. Well last time i had Sony laptop... well i had no issues except one thing - they ruined very powerful back then P733 machine with crappy NeoMagic video chip - it was slower than some ISA video cards in 2D. For 3D - it supported something but... 486DX4-100 with Rage II+ ran Turok at least five times faster without any gfx glitches - yeah Turok 1 was unplayable on 733MHz PIII ... My ex-girlfriend bought a Sony laptop - it was in service for at least three times, then they finally decided to replace it for good. Well it failed in less than a year. Not to mention infamous batteries.
even with a crappy celeron the images should load correctly, could be a gfx ram issue, check in the bios and see if you can increase the amount of video ram, its probably set at 64mb shared or something like that. but as bad said, it could also be a network issue on the laptop side. meh i need breakfast.. at 3pm lol
Dodgy graphics card ram wouldnt result in the type of issue hes seeing. Its an incompletely loaded JPG
after looking at the images again, rather than squinting at them at stupid o'clock in the am, yeah it looks like they're incomplete downloaded images. now thinking it may be a router > pc issue (or malware), i should really pay more attention, and sleep. are you losing packets? are you able to connect to the internet another way from the same machine? or set up a new connection, do you have the same problems if you log in with a different user account?
The video breaking up is strange. I run videos on a very slow computer (iMac G3) and the video clips pause, but not broke up like that. Got to be a driver in the video card or the browser or maybe the server is pausing? The still image to the left is clean so it shouldn't be a hardware issue. I noticed you mention you own a Sony Vaio Laptop. Though this will not fix the video, something to look at. My Vaio laptop fan was making scraping noises, turns out there is a Factory Defect. Even if yours might sound fine, might be good to request the Fan be changed. The service is free with a rep coming right to your house.
