hey all, i came across this site that do game auctions. since ebay is getting really ridcuiouse with there poilcys. i thouht this might be a great aternative to them. they also have alot more to offer then just game auctions. http://www.crazyplayer.com =bel0kk=
Let me know when there is more people on those sites, because i only see like 10 auctions. Evangelion-01
id love to buy from videogameauctions, but the fact that most auctions are pretty much in british currency of pounds, which us dollar equals shit to, i dont really bid on that site. This might be the reason people still prefer ebay and yahoo. But maybe one of these days i will bid on one of yakumos auctions, do you have reserves on yours yakumo?
I sure do have reserves. Nothing worse than someone thinking they're going to get a limited edition game for 2 pounds. Actually, most of my customers are European and British. We need more US sellers on there !! Can any of you guys in the US get people interested in listing their items? After all the British buyers will still bid on US listed auctions since the pound is so strong so that little extra in postage is no big deal. Yakumo
What is it that you don't like about ebay? Nothing is perfect and if yahoo can't beat ebay how can some "two bit" videogame site do better? Also I can't say that I am all that impressed with the starting bid prices, I suspect this new bidding site will be a ghost town for some time to come. Most US sellers view it as a pain to sell over seas. One more form to fill out, waiting in line to mail something out, dealing with currency conversion fees and buyers asking to list the item as a gift. I personally don't care and will ship overseas, but a portion of people doing ebay are just cleaning out thier garage or room and don't really need to hassle with shipping overseas just to make an extra $5 USD.
What kind of defeatest self limiting attitude is that? Its no wonder ebay is popular when the target audience is so blantantly uninterested in making the marketplace better. Yeah nothing is perfect but when there are obvious but immediately fixable problems with a site and they simply turn a blind eye because they feel they can then that sure as hell is a sign that the site is run to benefit them and not the customer. Why does ebay have to be beaten?, If something is sustainable then its in the customers interest to support more than a single site to create competition and more choice. Yahoo failed because it had even worse customer service than ebay and was very badly moderated. Anything listed on that site wasn't checked and nothing was enforced and the site became a second rate bootleg market.
Okay, so where is all the stuff I want to buy. If the new auction site doesn't have what I want, I won't visit the site. The market has and is speaking
You basically just proved Kron's point. The whole "tv dinner I want it now" generation is...well... what Ebay caters to.
I actually sell on ebay and amazon (not videogames) Will this new auction site bring in enough revenue to pay my bills for a month? Is there enough traffic to warrant posting time? How about the final closing price? No it won't. It takes effort and risk to gain profits from online sales. If you are not making a living or extra monthly income from an online auction site or from online merchandise in general, your opinion has no foundation. The reason is because paying sellers put thier money where there mouth is and the buyers drive the market. Ebay and amazon bring in money, the new site will do nothing for people actually taking a daily "risk" running a buisness. If a dedicated videogame site can bring in enough traic to warrant someones time great. Maybe I will try it in three years when it gets enough buyer traffic, otherwise its a waste of my time to even look at it (what does it have, 50 items posted?) The market "has" and "is" speaking
It is exactly this attitude which is making eBay hell. The fact is it is the little sellers who matter more for obscure items than the powersellers do. Yes, the high volume sellers make the money for the auction sites, but they don't carry the rare or unique items that only a few people want because those items require more time and effort to locate and don't usually bring the high profit margins. Lately, I would much rather buy items from sellers who only sell occassionally than someone who sells hundreds of items per day.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Plenty of sellers are NOT "power sellers" and make a living selling only RARE/OBSCURE items occassionally. Plus many power sellers have personal accounts for tax reasons, so don't think you are dealing with a occational seller becasue of the feedback on the profile. That "small" seller may just be selling some old junk in his attic, but in fact also has a "power seller" account for his buisness. How in the world would you know the difference between my ebay buisness account and my personal account? You don't because ebay doesn't say and thats why you have no idea what you are talking about
yeah, i have been the uk auction site yakumo. its nice =) but i like t see a us game auction site as well. =) =bel0kk=
 Why does everyone keep saying that... Yes, there are plenty of people who only sell rare items. I never said that there weren't. I only said that the powersellers tend to steer clear of the low margin items. I agree that it can be difficult to distinguish between a personal account and a business one, but you can sometimes tell the ones with "professional" experience based on the layout, wording and other things. The main point of my comments was regarding your allusion that the opinion of people who don't sell in high volumes doesn't matter. They do matter and I think that they should matter, for the benefit of customers, more than the opinion of powersellers. Hell, I would be happy if the opinions of everyone on eBay mattered equally, but that will never happen. Granted, a lot of recent changes on eBay have been done to the benefit of seemingly no one, but eBay has not made a change in benefit of the buyers or small sellers in years.
I don't get your point. Low volume auction sites have no sellers, no buyers, no deals and no rare stuff. That means "NO POINT" in even bothering with it. You still haven't said exactly what you want to change about ebay. The small buyer keeps ebay going. The majority of buyers have less than 50 feedback. You point is not clear.
While I've never tried Video Game Auctions or Crazy Player, the only thing I'm worried about when buying/selling/trading online is how secure my personal data is. I'm sure Video Game Auctions will grow more popular... it's just a matter of time. Totally off-topic: Your 666th post has a devil smiley in it! h:
I am not talking about low volume sites, but low volume sellers. I agree that a low volume auction site will die off or never realize its potential. However, it can be better to have a large number of smaller sellers than a small number of larger sellers. Having more purchasing sources means a more diverse selection and competition among the sellers. Regarding eBay, there is no customer service for anyone other than the powersellers (sometimes not even for them). Case in point, no phone numbers except for a select few extremely high volume sellers. Good luck if you ever have to talk to eBay about a technical issue. They direct you to their discussion forums (where no one looks most of the time) if they even bother to respond to an email.
Not to toot my own horn, but I basically invented the the "sell games direct from Japan" business that so many profit from today. By doing so, I: -Paid off college loans -Got out of CC debt -Saved up enough cash to move (which in Japan, costs a bundle) So I guess my opinion has some foundation. I'm so excited.
Announcer: "And for three small payments of $19.95, you too can find the comfort and security of financial freedom through our patented techniques!" Sorry, I couldn't resist. It seems like half the channels are showing paid programming shows like that right now, so I have to resort to watching Tivo'd "Dr. Phil" episodes. Seriously though, I wish I could pay off my loans like that, but no one wants "Direct from US" anything it seems... :-(
